Report: Harvey Weinstein ill, possibly infected with COVID-19

No Comments Entertainment News

Scott Heins/Getty Images)(LOS ANGELES) — Disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein is reportedly in isolation after spiking a fever of 101 degrees, among other troubling signs of illness.

TMZ reports that doctors believe the 68-year-old convicted sex offender may have been infected with COVID-19, telling the publication that he is “doing poorly.”

Weinstein was tested for the infectious virus on Tuesday and is currently awaiting results.  Should he test positive, he will be moved to the prison hospital for further monitoring.

Weinstein has several health conditions that has elevated his risk level, which could potentially complicate his recovery.

His team told TMZ that, “It should come as no surprise that Mr. Weinstein has numerous maladies and conditions including a heart condition, high blood pressure and spinal stenosis.”

“We are working with the NYSDOCCS and the excellent team at Wende CF to ensure Mr. Weinstein receives the proper medical attention he needs,” the statement continued.

In March, the former movie producer was sentenced to 23 years in prison for his convictions on rape and sexual assault.

Weinstein was sentence in New York to 20 years for criminal sexual assault for forcing oral sex on Miriam Haley.  That sentence was ordered to run consecutively with a three-year sentence for the third-degree rape of Jessica Mann.

It was announced last month by the LA County District Attorney that he now faces three new counts of rape and three new counts of forcible oral copulation involving the two women.

Overall, Weinstein faces an additional 11 sexual assault counts involving five women in California, which could add an additional 140 years to life in state prison, on top of his 23-year sentence.

An extradition hearing is set for December 11 in Buffalo.

People's Sexiest Man Alive for 2020 is: Michael B Jordan

No Comments Entertainment News

Pascal Le Segretain/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Fans of Jimmy Kimmel Live! were left guessing — literally — over this year’s People‘s Sexiest Man Alive.  After some very specific questions from the audience, Kimmel broke the news that Michael B. Jordan is this year’s winner.

The 33-year-old Black Panther star — who famously caused a teenage fan to shatter her retainer when she clenched her jaw during his shirtless scene — was paraded out at the start of Tuesday’s show disguised in a smiling yellow hazmat suit.

The audience was challenged to figure out the Emmy nominee’s identity by asking him simple yes or no answers to answer.

The best question came from a woman named Tessie, who giggled, “Have you ever been in a romantic relationship with Taylor Swift?”

Jordan’s reply was equally hilarious and he deadpanned in return, “That’s pretty specific, but, no.”

Ultimately, a Los Angeles-based fan named Ashley put the clues together and shrieked with delight as Jordan stepped out of his clever disguise.

As for how the Creed star found out he was crowned People‘s Sexiest Man Alive, Jordan revealed to Kimmel that he was in the car with a friend when the announcement came.

“My publicist and my manager gives me a call,” he recalled. “They told me the news and it was a moment like, [bleep,] really? Me?!”

When speaking with People, Jordan called the honor “a cool feeling” but admitted that the women in his family are far more excited about the award than he can ever be.

“When my grandmother was alive, it was something that she collected, and then my mom naturally reads it a lot and my aunts as well. This is one that they’re definitely going to have a special place for,” he grinned.

No more "Up Down," as Morgan Wallen vows he's "back at home with myself"

No Comments Country Music News

ABCFor Morgan Wallen, it’s been a year of highs and lows.

Just last week, the “Up Down” hitmaker clinched the coveted CMA award for Best New Artist, as his music finds success on both the country and pop charts.

But the triumph comes on the heels of the 27-year-old losing his performance slot on Saturday Night Live, and an arrest for public intoxication and disorderly conduct in Nashville.  He also recently revealed that he’s fathered a son.

But Morgan says he’s turned things around.

“For me personally, I feel like I’m in a better spot…” he reflects. “With everything that’s went on with this year and with my career kinda exploding in a way, for me, it’s been easy to just get caught up in that.”

“And I kind of feel like I’m back at home with myself now, which is nice,” he adds.

After 2020, Morgan vows to never again take things for granted.

“You know, I’ve always loved playing shows and giving everything I got every night,” he declares. “I truthfully can say that…”

“You don’t ever look at a show and be like, ‘Damn, this might be my last one,’ you know?’ And I think I might treat every show like it might be from now,” he muses.

Right now, Morgan’s latest hit, “More Than My Hometown,” seems destined to be country’s next number one, while his crossover track, “7 Summers,” climbs in the top 25 as well.

His new double album, Dangerous, is set to come out January 8.

US successfully intercepts ICBM with ship-launched missile in historic test

U.S. Missile Defense Agency/U.S. NavyBy LUIS MARTINEZ, ABC News

(WASHINGTON) — In a first-of-its-kind test, the United States has successfully used a small, ship-fired missile to intercept a target Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM), according to the Missile Defense Agency. The successful test shows the U.S. military now has another missile defense system capable of defending against North Korean ICBM’s aimed at the United States.

“The U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and U.S. Navy sailors aboard an Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) System-equipped destroyer intercepted and destroyed a threat-representative Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) target with a Standard Missile-3 (SM-3) Block IIA missile during a flight test demonstration in the broad ocean area northeast of Hawaii, Nov. 16,” according to a statement from the Missile Defense Agency.

A target ICBM missile launched from Kwajalein Atoll in the Republic of the Marshall Islands in the Pacific Ocean traveled thousands of miles towards the body of water between Hawaii and the West Coast of the United States mainland. The destroyer USS John Finn that was positioned in those waters then fired an SM3 missile that successfully intercepted the target ICBM. The interceptor missile was directed towards its target using tracking information provided by an array of sensor systems designed to monitor any incoming missile attack on the United States.

The successful intercept marked the first time that a target ICBM had been intercepted by a ship-launched interceptor missile.

Previous interceptor tests have been carried out with the much larger Ground Based Interceptor (GBI) missiles based in Alaska and California that are designed to prevent a North Korean ICBM attack on the U.S.

The successful ship-fired missile test shows that another layer of missile defense could become available to counter North Korea’s growing long-range missile inventory. Last month it unveiled what appears to be the world’s largest mobile-launched ICBM that could threaten the U.S. and its allies in the Pacific region.

Originally designed to intercept intermediate-range ballistic missiles, the SM3 has now shown it can be used to defend against longer range ICBM’s that reach much higher in the atmosphere.

“This was an incredible accomplishment and critical milestone for the Aegis BMD SM-3 Block IIA program,” said MDA Director Vice Admiral Jon Hill in a press release announcing the successful test.

“The Department is investigating the possibility of augmenting the Ground-based Midcourse Defense system by fielding additional sensors and weapon systems to hedge against unexpected developments in the missile threat,” said Hill.

“We have demonstrated that an Aegis BMD-equipped vessel equipped with the SM-3 Block IIA missile can defeat an ICBM-class target, which is a step in the process of determining its feasibility as part of an architecture for layered defense of the homeland,” he said.

The missile test was originally scheduled for May, but was delayed due to restrictions on the movement of personnel and equipment that resulted from the coronavirus pandemic.

The SM3 Block IIA missile is jointly built by Raytheon Missiles and Defense and Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.

The successful intercept was designated as Flight Test Aegis Weapon System-44 (FTM-44), and was the sixth flight test of the SM3 Block IIA missile fired from a Navy ship equipped with the Aegis ballistic missile defense system.
