Chrissy Teigen urges to "normalize formula" after opening up about breastfeeding struggles

No Comments Entertainment News

Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty Images for Netflix(LOS ANGELES) — Chrissy Teigen is hoping that, by opening up about her breastfeeding struggles, she can help break down the stigma regarding breast milk versus formula.

In a lengthy Twitter discussion, the Bring the Funny host called to “normalize formula.”

“Normalize breastfeeding is such a huge, wonderful thing. but I absolutely felt way more shame having to use formula because of lack of milk from depression and whatnot,” Teigen continued in a followup tweet. She also pointed out that pushing breastfeeding can have unintended consequences on a new mom’s confidence.

“People have surrogates, people have trouble breastfeeding and all you hear as a new, anxious mom is how breast is best,” the Cravings author wroteadding that no matter what side of the argument a parent is on, “Your baby is gonna be BEAUTIFUL, PERFECT, AND OKAY.”

Teigen then explained that, when her children were infants, she used to spend a great deal of time pumping on the “highest mode,” and “it drove me mad to the point I could only get an ounce. an ounce!”

“The stress of it, combined with the guilt that you cannot do nature’s most natural thing for your own baby is too much,” the 35-year-old model implored. “I dunno why this is my crusade now. I just remember the sadness I felt and want you to know you are doing it right if your baby is fed, mama.”

This isn’t the first time Teigen has advocated for mothers. She recently defended Meghan Markle from critics after the duchess opened up about her miscarriage, weeks after Teigen suffered her own pregnancy loss.

Teigen is the mom of Luna and Miles — four and two, respectively — whom she shares with husband John Legend.

No Comments Entertainment News

Marvel Studios(LOS ANGELES) — Hail to the king! Michael B. Jordan, Viola Davis, Lupita Nyong’o and others paid tribute to Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman on Sunday, which would have been the actor’s 44th birthday.

Boseman passed away in August following a private four-year battle with colon cancer.

“Continue watching over us King. Happy Birthday. Miss you,” Boseman’s Black Panther co-star and close friend Jordan captioned a photo on Instagram of the two of them hugging each other.

“Deeply loved, sorely missed. #ChadwickBoseman,” Nyong’o wrote alongside a shot of the two dressed in formal attire.

“Happy birthday in Heaven, Chadwick! You are still so alive to me!! I love you,” Davis — who stars opposite Boseman in his posthumously released film Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, captioned a gif on Instagram of the actor being showered in confetti.

Boseman’s Avengers: Infinity Wars and Avengers: Endgame co-star Mark Ruffalo shared an Instagram video of Chadwick warmly being serenaded with “Happy Birthday” by his Endgame crew and co-stars on set. “Thinking of your passion, love, and your light today, @ChadwickBoseman,” Ruffalo wrote. “Happy Birthday. Wishing we could time travel back to this moment.”

“Happy birthday my friend. I know the angels are celebrating on high with you today. Miss you every day,” Josh Gad captioned a photo of him posing with Boseman.

Common tweeted, “Chadwick Boseman would have turned 44 years old today. Happy Birthday King. God Bless You. Thank you for using your gift to bring light to this world. RIP.”

NFL fines Saints, Patriots for COVID-19 violations, investigating two other teams

(NEW YORK) — The NFL cracked down this weekend on two teams who broke the league’s coronavirus-related policies and are looking into two other teams for possible violations, according to reports.

The league fined the New Orleans Saints $500,000 after the players and the team posted a video on social media showing unmasked team members celebrating their Nov. 8 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the locker room, a source told ABC News. The NFL also took away a seventh-round draft pick as punishment for the Saints’ violation, the source said.

The Saints are appealing the punishment, according to ESPN.

A source told ABC News the team’s steep fine and draft pick loss stemmed from the Saints’ repeated violations of COVID-19 protocols and warnings from the league. In September, Saints Coach Sean Payton, who was seen in the video, and the team were fined a combined $350,000 after he was seen not wearing a face mask during a game.

Payton told NOLA.com back in September he should have been more careful while on the field and kept his mask on.

“It’s something we’re just going to have to remind ourselves to do,” he said.

The NFL sent out a memo to all teams on Nov. 3 with updated COVID-19 rules that stressed: “All players and staff must wear masks or double-layered gaiters in the locker room on game day — prior to the game, during halftime, and post-game.”

The New England Patriots were also fined $350,000 for violations related to positive tests of Cam Newton and other players in October, ESPN reported.

Although Newton didn’t play in the Oct. 4 game against the Kansas City Chiefs two days after he was diagnosed, 20 teammates and staff members who were deemed to be close contacts to Newton flew out to the game, according to ESPN. The day after the game, cornerback Stephon Gilmore, who had been in close contact with Newton, tested positive for COVID-19, ESPN reported.

The Patriots did not immediately release a statement about the fine.

The league is also investigating the Baltimore Ravens and the Denver Broncos over coronavirus-related violations, sources told ABC News.

The two teams were scheduled to play on Thanksgiving Day, but the game was moved to Tuesday after the Ravens reported at least 19 coronavirus cases among its players and staff members, including quarterback Lamar Jackson.

The Broncos’ current starting quarterback, Jeff Driskel, also tested positive last week.

The Broncos had its three quarterbacks in a room together for a meeting for an extended period of time without masks after Driskel contracted the disease, according to sources. The players, who were considered close contacts to Driskel, allegedly took off their tracking devices that are used by teams to assist with contact tracing, according to the sources.

Broncos head coach Vic Fangio was fined earlier in the season for not wearing a face mask, and the team would be considered a repeat offender if the league determines it violated protocols.

The Broncos released a statement Saturday that said the team would work with the NFL if they discover any positive tests among their players or staff.

Dr. Allen Sills, the NFL’s chief medical officer, told ABC News he expects the situation to get harder as the season progresses due to the growing cases across the country.

He added that the league is constantly evolving its coronavirus protocols and pushes teams to follow the science.

“What keeps us safe are the same measures that work for everyone outside of football, and that’s wearing masks, physical distancing, good hand hygiene, prompt reporting of symptoms,” Sills told ABC News.

"It’s gonna have a family vibe": Lady A get into the holiday spirit for 'CMA Country Christmas'

No Comments Country Music News

John Russell/CMALady A will get festive on the CMA Country Christmas stage when the special airs tonight, and the three band mates agree that they’re more than ready for the holiday season to kick off.

“It can’t get here fast enough,” laughs Hillary Scott. “But then at the same time, I want it to last forever, because it’s the most enjoyable part of the year.”

The special includes Lady A’s performances of “Wonderful Christmastime” and “Little Saint Nick,” two of the additions included on the new deluxe version of their holiday album, On This Winter’s Night.

“We love Christmas songs and the harmonies, especially these two,” Hillary continues. “Particularly the harmonies. These songs are just really fun for us to sing.”

“You say fun, I say tortuously difficult,” jokes singer Charles Kelley, adding that nailing the harmonies in the Beach Boys classic “Little Saint Nick” was especially tricky.

But demanding vocal challenges aside, the trio couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the annual holiday tradition, especially at the end of what has been such a challenging year. Due to social distancing protocols, the special wasn’t able to have its usual live audience in 2020. Instead, CMA Country Christmas this year focuses on a relaxed and cozy aesthetic. The special will trade glitzy, expansive stages for an at-home feel, dressing the performance sets to look like a family’s living room.

Plus, having Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren Akins as hosts will add to the homey feel.

“It’s gonna have a family vibe,” Hillary says. “I feel like the holidays are always so much about family, and having the two of them host the night will just be really special.”

CMA Country Christmas airs tonight at 9:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
