Ingrid Andress says writing "sad girl" song "Christmas Always Finds Me" was "therapeutic"

No Comments Country Music News

ABCWhen writing her original song, “Christmas Always Finds Me,” Ingrid Andress was intentional about finding comfort amidst the chaos.

In what she calls a “sad girl” Christmas song, Ingrid wanted “Christmas Always Finds Me” to capture how people will be adapting their holiday traditions this year in response to the pandemic, but even though it’s a challenging time, there’s still hope to be found.

“This year has been insane, and so I feel like it just came from a real place of thinking about how different the holidays are going to look this year for everybody. And I didn’t just want to write a song that didn’t really acknowledge that,” she explains of her process to ABC Audio.

“I feel like we still have so much to be grateful for though, even though we can’t celebrate the way we normally do,” she continues. “There’s always something to be grateful for and there’s always time for Christmas and the people that you love.”

She adds that writing the song served as a form of therapy and hints that there may be more holiday songs to come.

“Writing that song was really therapeutic, and so I feel like even though it’s like kind of sad girl Christmas, there’s more where that came from. I just don’t know when,” she suggests. “The Christmas mood strikes at any moment. So we will see.”

Jessica Simpson emotionally reveals that she has dyslexia

No Comments Entertainment News

Amy Sussman/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — Jessica Simpson revealed for the first time on Monday that she has dyslexia and why that didn’t stop her from releasing an audiobook of her memoir Open Book.

While celebrating  Open Book being named by Apple as one of the best audiobooks of the year, the “Without You” singer revealed on Tuesday why releasing it at all was such a major triumph.

“I’m dyslexic and this was the first time I have ever read out loud without hesitation,” revealed Simpson on her personal Instagram, adding that, this time, she had a reason to overcome the fear of making a mistake.

“I did it for the listener. I did it for my family. I did it for myself,” the 40-year-old singer affirmed.

Dyslexia is one of the most common learning disabilities in the United States, which affects the ability to read, write and speak, according to Mayo Clinic. Dyslexia is a life-long problem and there is no known cure.  While early detection grants a better chance at success, those who struggle with dyslexia can also improve their reading skills by adopting certain educational techniques.

As for Simpson, she is thankful that she chose to use her voice to turn her memoir into an audiobook.

“I appreciate the power of this praise with all of my heart,” she added. “Turning my fears into wisdom has been a soulful journey to say the least.”

(CUYOHOGA FALLS, Ohio) — A man accused of kidnapping a 45-year-old Cuyohoga Falls, Ohio, woman was killed by authorities during a successful rescue attempt at a Louisiana hotel Tuesday night.

James Hawley, 47, of Cleveland, was shot as police and FBI agents closed in to arrest him. He also had been accused of shooting and killing Nichole Bronowski’s mother, Norma Matko, 69, who was found dead in her Barnesville, Ohio, home the same day her daughter was reported missing, authorities said.

“The boots on the ground, and all of the cooperation that went up to the federal level, worked diligently … to bring this to a conclusion today,” Belmont County Sheriff David Lucas told reporters at a Wednesday news conference.

Bronowski was reported missing on Thanksgiving, when officers discovered her mother’s body. FBI Assistant Special Agent Jeffrey Fortunato told reporters the nurse’s disappearance appeared to be a kidnapping.

Searches of Hawley’s social media accounts revealed photos he posted of himself with guns, indicating he wanted to kill cops, Fortunato added.

Investigators tracked the suspect to a hotel in Pineville, Louisiana, and deployed officers from Ohio and FBI agents from Louisiana.

Fortunato said one FBI agent was shot during the incident and is recovering at a local hospital. No additional details about the tactics at the hotel were provided, and the matter is still under investigation, he added.

Lucas said investigators are still trying to determine a motive but acknowledged that Bronowski and Hawley did have a past relationship. Lucas declined to provide additional details.

“Everyone involved,” Lucas added, “they worked hard to put this to rest.”

Caylee Hammack taps Everclear's Art Alexakis for "Just Friends" video

No Comments Country Music News

ABCRising star Caylee Hammack calls back to her love of 90s rock group Everclear in the video for her current single, “Just Friends.”

Everclear frontman Art Alexakis cameos in the video, with Caylee sharing with Billboard that the band’s 1997 album, So Much for the Afterglow, “really shaped me” — especially the song “I Will Buy You a New Life,” which heavily inspired “Just Friends.”

The two connected after Caylee professed to guitarist Steve Wilson, a mutual friend, that she was a massive Everclear fan.

“Considering ‘Just Friends’ partly came from a Everclear binge during a breakup, I dream[ed] that Art Alexakis could star as a…mystery character in the music video,” Caylee says.

She adds, “‘I Will Buy You a New Life’ was one of the first songs and music videos that stuck in my head as a kid. I knew I had to reference that in someway.  Then the idea popped in my head to just ask [for] [Art’s] number [from] of a mutual friend and call him. I’m glad I did. He is a wonderful creator and even better human.”

In the video, Caylee auditions for Art; at the end, the tables turn and she’s the one judging him.  Caylee and her band also appear in black suits and ties, a nod to the original video for “I Will Buy You a New Life.”

“Just Friends” is featured on Caylee’s 2020 debut album, If It Wasn’t For You.
