Katy Perry apologizes to Zooey Deschanel for posing as her during her "wild child" years

No Comments Entertainment News

Jesse Grant/WireImage for Bluprint(LOS ANGELES) — Katy Perry tapped actress and singer Zooey Deschanel to star in her new video for “Not the End of the World” because for years, fans have bee talking about how much they looked like one another.  But during an Instagram Live session Monday, Katy told Zooey that back in the day, she totally took advantage of that resemblance.

“When I first got to LA, I went to the club a lot, and I wanted to get into the club and I had no money and I had no clout. I had nothing,” Katy told Zooey. “And sometimes I would pose as you to get into the club.”

Zooey responded that she was aware of that, because, she said, “I’m such a goody two-shoes and people kept going, ‘I saw you out! I made eye contact with you!’ and I was like ‘No!'”

“And then everybody kept telling me about this girl, Katy — Katy, who looks just like you,” Zooey continued. “And I’m like, ‘Who is this Katy?’ And then when I met you, I was so relieved because you’re so pretty! And I was like, ‘Oh, thank God!'”

Katy then apologized to Zooey for ruining her reputation, because, as she admitted, “I was a wild child. When I moved to LA when I was 17 years old, from 17 till about 23, when ‘I Kissed a Girl’ came out, like, I was turned up to 11…so I’m sorry if I misrepresented you.”

During the IG Live, Katy and Zooey also discussed juggling motherhood and meditation, and Katy’s fiancé Orlando Bloom also crashed the party to bring Katy a snack.

Ryan Michelle Bathé explains why her role in 'Sylvie's Love' was a homage to the hidden figures in history

No Comments Entertainment News

Courtesy of Ryan Michelle Bathé(NEW YORK) — Ryan Michelle Bathé says she honored the hidden figures in history with her pioneering role in the new romantic drama Sylvie’s Love.

In the film, which follows the romance between a young woman and a saxophonist, Bathé plays Kate, a Black TV producer during the 1960s. Bathé tells ABC Audio that although her character wasn’t commonplace during that time, a form of her did exist.

“I knew those women,” she says. “I knew that there were always those Black women who were the first in the boardroom and they have these amazing stories. And we can’t tell them all.”

“Kate was an homage and an amalgamation of all of those stories,” Bathé continues. “We’re never going to be able to Google who ran the cooking show in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1962. But dollars to donuts, there was some woman, and maybe even a Black woman, there breaking down those doors.”

Bathé says it was that ambitious spirit and character that ultimately grabbed her attention.

“And that’s what I loved about this movie, [Kate and Sylvie] kind of, sort of, have it all,” she says. “And maybe they didn’t have it all at the same time. But Kate was able to do an amazing service by being the first Black woman doing that. And then when she felt like her time was over, she powerfully chose to do something else.”

Aside from showing the complexities of “having it all,” Bathé believes the film also sheds light on what it means to be a “strong woman.”

“When we talk about strong women, I think that is truly the crux of what it is — to make your choices powerfully, whether it’s ‘yes or no,'” she says.

Sylvie’s Love, also starring Tessa Thompson and Nnamdi Asomugha, launches on Amazon Prime December 23.
