Drew Barrymore says a man she met on celebrity dating app stood her up on first date

No Comments Entertainment News

Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images for Empire State Realty Trust(LOS ANGELES) — Online dating can be a hassle, just ask Drew Barrymore.  The mom of two revealed she waded back into the world of dating, but has yet to find success.  In fact, one bad date left her feeling humiliated.

Speaking recently on The Drew Barrymore Show with comedian Nikki Glaser, the actress confessed she joined a celebrity dating website “where every guy was a surfer, a photographer, had a dog… like a cookie cutter,” which meant she did a lot of swiping.

“I booked a date with one guy, like finally,” the 50 First Dates star revealed, but said the potential love connection was doomed from the start. “He stood me up at the exact time we were supposed to meet!”

Although her ego was bruised, Barrymore said she brushed off the slight and huffed, “I was like, ‘Can’t you be a jerk like an hour before?’ That would have been such a time saver!”

“I know that happens all the time.  I was more miffed that it was at 3 o’ clock,” the 45-year-old continued. “I felt so stupid.”

The two women tore into so-called celebrity dating apps, with Glaser joking that she refers to them as “DJs jumping off of yachts.”

Barrymore enthusiastically agreed, adding, “There are, like, big, high-powered men and of course I didn’t go for any of those.”

The actress also revealed a little about the man she was supposed to meet up with, revealing, “I was like, ‘Oh!  The comedy writer.  That sounds fun!'”

When Glaser proposed that the potential date was intimidated of Barrymore’s status, the actress corrected, “I think he’s just an uncourteous person.”

The Emmy Award nominee then advised the audience to never make excuses for a rude date, saying, “We gotta face the facts.”

Ronnie Dunn takes Blake Shelton's side on "Minimum Wage" controversy

No Comments Country Music News

ABC/Image Group LAAfter Blake Shelton took a beating on social media over the timing of his new song “Minimum Wage,” his buddy and fellow Okie Ronnie Dunn has come to his defense.

Some people thought releasing a song about how love “can make a man feel rich on minimum wage” with millions unemployed and struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic was ill-timed.

Ronnie, in a Tuesday Twitter post, called the controversy “yet another one of those misguided social issue (cultural scams) that are concocted to further divide this country.”

“I’m putting my money on the common sense of the common man to call b******* on the forces at work to keep this country divide,” he continued.

The 67-year-old Brooks & Dunn singer went on to explain, “I slept on a mattress on the floor in a musician friend’s spare bedroom and played BEER JOINTS / DIVE BARS for years before I ever made a $100. Most country singers pay dues and go through things to become successful that no sane human being would.”

“Read the lyrics to Blake’s song,” he added. “Hell, I wish I’d written it.”

Shelton debuted the song during NBC’s countdown to 2021 alongside Carson Daly, introducing it as a love song about fiancee Gwen Stefani.

“Minimum Wage” has not been fully released.

Report: Jimmy Fallon tips $400 to Hamptons waiter

No Comments Entertainment News

NBC(NEW YORK) — Jimmy Fallon is making sure that one waiter’s New Year is off to a good start with one very generous monetary tip.

According to Page Six, an insider saw the late night talk show host having dinner with his wife, Nancy Juvonen, at Kissaki in Water Mill, NY over the weekend. And they must have enjoyed themselves because Fallon apparently “left a $400 on his way out, to the waiter’s delight.”

Let’s hope he gets a “Thank You Note.”

The source added that Fallon also posed for photos with fans — behind plexiglass and with a mask on.

The outlet notes that Fallon has a home in Sagaponack, a few minutes from Water Mill, which viewers have gotten a glimpse of on The Tonight Show.

Christie Brinkley reveals she needed a hip replacement

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC/Justin Stephens(LOS ANGELES) — New Year, New Hip!  Christie Brinkley says that’s how she rang in 2021.

In a surprise announcement on Tuesday, the model revealed on Instagram that she had to undergo a hip replacement and proudly showed off the spot where she had the surgery.

“New Year, New Hip! Yes that’s a band aid on my hip,” Brinkley wrote in the lengthy caption. “I injured my hip in a back country skiing helicopter crash on a mountaintop in Telluride many years ago.  The pain in my hip got a little bit worse each year.”

The 66-year-old said she was told that her hip needed replacing over a decade ago, but “the surgery was daunting! And I had things to do!”

Brinkley said the reason she finally agreed to replace her hip was because of the COVID-19 pandemic, which slowed down her life enough to “finally take time for myself and do something about the pain that had progressively influenced my decisions.”

“I had my surgery at Thanksgiving and I was dancing in my kitchen by New Years Eve and today I put on my long fins and explored the coral reefs propelled by my new hip,” the American Beauty Star judge celebrated.

Brinkley hopes to inspire others to put their health and comfort first by speaking out about her surgery.

“I’m writing all this to say If you’ve been putting something off that could improve your well-being but hesitate out of some sort of fear, I suggest learning as much as you can about the process and the results and expectations” she said. “I can’t tell you how happy I am to have done this. Now I can focus on getting back in shape and rebuilding my strength.”

Brinkley also joked she’s never too old “to get hip!”

Surgeon general promises vaccine rollout is ‘ramping up’

In the wake of the slower-than-expected vaccine distribution, Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams told ABC News’ Good Morning America Wednesday, “we are quickly ramping up.”

Operation Warp Speed promised 20 million vaccines by the end of 2020. As of Tuesday morning, 4.8 million had been vaccinated, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“We’re now approaching 500,000 vaccinations per day,” Adams said, highlighting the increase in priority groups and locations where the vaccine is offered.

“We’re going to make sure we’re putting vaccines and supplies where the demand actually is. And you’re going to continue to see these rates ramp up,” Adams said. “It is by no means as good as we would want it to be, but I want the American people to keep this in perspective: most difficult vaccine rollout in history. It’s ramping up and you’ll see things rapidly increase over the next couple of weeks.”

EU medical agency recommends emergency use authorization for Moderna vaccine

The European Medicines Agency has recommended granting a conditional marketing authorization for Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine for people who are at least 18 years old.

This is the second vaccine the EMA has recommended for authorization. The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine was approved by the EU in December.

The EMA cited a large clinical trial, involving around 30,000 people, that showed a 94.1% efficacy rate.

“This vaccine provides us with another tool to overcome the current emergency,” said Emer Cooke, executive director of EMA. “It is a testament to the efforts and commitment of all involved that we have this second positive vaccine recommendation just short of a year since the pandemic was declared by WHO.”

The European Commission must give final approval of the conditional marketing authorization in order for the vaccine to be distributed, but that appears to be a formality.
