Rachel Brosnahan says she's not comfortable with handling firearms

No Comments Entertainment News

Amazon Studios(NEW YORK) — The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan admits her most-recent filming experience scared her because she had to shoot a gun.

Speaking to Page Six, Brosnahan candidly spoke about the challenges she faced while making her newest movie, I’m Your Woman, where she plays a mother on the run who does whatever it takes to keep her infant child safe.

“My character in this new film made me nervous. I’m bad at handling guns and — for the first time — it scared me,” the Emmy Award-winner admitted.

“Sometimes in movies it feels like someone shoves a gun in the actor’s hand, whereupon power surges through his veins, and the person suddenly miraculously knows how to use it,” said Brosnahan, who says she will never experience that rush. “I’m not comfortable handling guns.”

Because of that, she believes actors like Tom Cruise and Denzel Washington are better equipped for such movies.

The 30-year-old actress continued, “For a film once before, I had to learn to shoot. I wasn’t happy.”

There is only one other time in Brosnahan’s life where she had to handle a firearm, she said, revealing it was when she was brought on a disastrous first date.

“A guy who, for some reason, took me to a shooting range,” she deadpanned. “Trust me, this was a one date only.”

I’m Your Woman is streaming now on Amazon Prime.

Michael Chiklis says fans of 'The Shield' and 'Breaking Bad' will like his new show, 'Coyote'

No Comments Entertainment News

CBS All Access(NEW YORK) — Michael Chiklis won an Emmy for his portrayal of bruising dirty detective Vic Mackey in FX’s groundbreaking drama The Shield, which ran for seven seasons through 2008.  Now the actor is back on the beat with CBS All Access’ new drama, Coyote

Chiklis plays Ben Clemens, a retired U.S. Border Patrol agent who is forced to work for the very people he spent his career trying to keep out of this country. A drug lord takes Clemens’ family and forces the former lawman to smuggle the villain’s pregnant girlfriend across the border.

Chiklis, who’s also an executive producer of the series, tells ABC Audio, “What’s thrilling about this is there’s crossover for sure, people who are fans of The Shield will be fans of this show and fans of Breaking Bad will be, too, because my old dear friend [director] Michelle MacLaren, who shot more episodes of that show than anybody, is my executive producer partner in this.”

He adds, “even though there’s shades of those shows, it’s completely distinct and it’s its own thing. So that’s excellent.”

Chiklis explains further of his character, “He’s absolutely not Vic Mackey, this guy that I’m playing, but the tone and tenor and the authenticity of it and the grit of it is is absolutely there, but obviously dealing with a whole other world and set of circumstances and viewpoints.”

He adds, “We’re really excited about this one.”

All six episodes of Coyote are now available for streaming on CBS All Access.

Tim McGraw once cheered up Bruce Springsteen after Grammy loss

No Comments Country Music News

John Russell/CMASometimes, even superstars need a little help putting things into perspective. For rock legend Bruce Springsteen, that perspective once came in the form of a pep talk from Tim McGraw.

After the 2003 Grammy Awards, Bruce was feeling a little low after losing the Album of the Year Trophy (for his project The Rising) to Norah JonesCome Away With Me. Then, he happened to run into Tim backstage.

The pair revisited the memory during a recent episode of Tim’s show, Beyond the Influence Radio, where Bruce was a special guest.

“I always remember one thing you said to me. It was the night after we lost the Grammy for The Rising and I came into the dressing room and everybody was kind of down in the mouth,” Bruce recalls in the interview. “And [Tim] said, ‘Hey, what’s the matter, man? You’re Bruce Springsteen.’”

Tim’s always had a knack for prioritizing gratitude and keeping perspective. That’s also been the message behind several of the songs on his 2020 Here on Earth album, such as “Gravy” and “I Called Mama.”

“I always remember that, man,” Bruce goes on to say of the incident. “That took me up, it was kind of a great moment. And I’ve always remembered that when I think of you.”

Lady A pop some "Champagne" to toast their newest chart-topping hit

No Comments Country Music News

ABC/Chris HolloLady A are kicking off 2021 on a high note, as their “Champagne Night” officially crowns the Billboard Country Airplay chart for the week dated January 9.

That milestone comes in the song’s 37th week on the chart, making it the longest climb Lady A has ever made to the top spot. It surpasses “What If I Never Get Over You,” which took 35 weeks to get to the top of the chart, and marks the trio’s 11th hit to ever top Billboard’s Country Airplay chart.

“Champagne Night” is also a unique song for the trio in that it began during an April 2020 episode of NBC’s televised songwriting competition Songland. Lady A were the guest artists in one installment of the show, as songwriting hopefuls competed to have their song selected by the band to record. They ultimately chose “Champagne Night,” which was originally titled “I’ll Drink to That,” by songwriter Madeline Merlo.

“This has been a special song for us for so many reasons,” the band’s Hillary Scott tells Billboard. “We loved it so much that it became a single: The first-ever radio single to be released from Songland. So for the fans to love it as much as we do and for it now to be at No. 1, it feels like the best way to celebrate the first week of the new year.”

“Champagne Night” comes off Lady A’s 2019 studio album, Ocean. That project also includes “What If I Never Get Over You.”

Tom Hanks shows off "horrible haircut" from role in Elvis biopic

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC/Craig Sjodin(AUSTRALIA) — It’s not uncommon for actors to sometimes undergo dramatic transformations when they take on a new role.  For Tom Hanks, that meant donning a “horrible haircut.”

The 64-year-old actor, who is filming Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley biopic, appeared on The Graham Norton Show and seemed more than eager to show off his new ‘do.

“Here, let me show the horrible haircut I have to have in order to portray Colonel Tom Parker,” he said as he removed his baseball cap, revealing his bald head. “I just scared the children. I want to apologize.”

While Hanks portrays Parker, the longtime manger of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Austin Butler landed the gig of playing Preseley himself in the Warner Bros. flick. Filming for the project resumed in September after being put on hold after Hanks tested positive for COVID-19 in March.

“We’re back to, as Elvis liked to say, ‘taking care of business!’  It is a real privilege in this unprecedented global moment that Tom Hanks has been able to return to Australia to join Austin Butler and all of our extraordinary cast and crew to commence production on Elvis,” Luhrmann says in a statement to Variety

Elvis is slated for release in late 2021.
