Carly Pearce hopes to host events like Dolly and Reba

No Comments Country Music News

ABCAs Carly Pearce‘s star power rises, she hopes to follow in the footsteps of two icons that came before her.

After recently serving as host at the Grand Ole Opry, Carly says she’d like to continue with such ventures, looking to Dolly Parton and Reba McEntire, both of whom are multi CMA and ACM Awards hosts, for inspiration.

“I look at the two ladies to me that are just really showing me what I want to do, as far as being someone in the industry, is Dolly and Reba, and they do it best,” says Carly.

Carly adds hat hosting the Opry was the ideal way to get her feet wet when it comes to hosting, and hopes to engage in similar opportunities in the future.

“I would love to start to kinda tap into that,” she declares. “I didn’t throw up, pass out or die on stage at the Opry, so I feel like that was a good starter for me.”

'The Bachelor' recap: Queen Victoria becomes a royal pain

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC/Craig Sjodin(LOS ANGELES) — While the 24 remaining women find Matt intoxicating, on Tuesday’s edition of The Bachelor, the atmosphere among the women after the first rose ceremony had quickly grown toxic.

Host Chris Harrison delivered the first date card and warned the potential fiancees that, due to the unusual number of women, some of them wouldn’t be going on a date with Matt.

Bri, the 24-year-old communications manager from San Francisco, nabs the first one-on-one — an adventurous date where she is able to go four-wheeling through the countryside with Matt, followed by a romantic soak in a wood-fired hot tub.

Later, the two bonded over their shared stories of growing up in single-parent households, leading them to gravitate towards friends whose home lives resembled “what a family should look like,” and their mutual desire to have big families. After getting the date rose, she and Matt experience both literal and figurative fireworks.

Meanwhile, the other women were putting on their best faces, while secretly feeling the pressure of possibly not getting the all-important time with the Bachelor.  However, Victoria, the 27-year-old from Los Angeles who refers to herself as a “queen,” wasn’t having any of the other ladies’ “girl power b*******.”  Her endless complaining over being passed over for the first date was beginning to grate on the women, particularly Victoria’s roommate, Marylynn, whom she accused of “insulting her character.”

The argument ended with Victoria opting to sleep on the sofa, rather than share a bedroom with Marylynn.

The largest group date in Bachelor history found 18 women dressing up for a wedding photo shoot, with Matt as the groom kissing his brides.

However, halfway through the photoshoot, they were interrupted by Harrison, who informed them that those beautiful wedding dresses were about to get “trashed,” as they were split into teams that would take part in a game called “Capture Matt’s Heart.”

The winning team — which included Mari, Rachael, Katie, Victoria, Lauren, Jessenia, Serena P., Khaylah and MJ — got to spend the evening with Matt, while the others headed back to their rooms.

Victoria, who confessed to Matt that she had her insecurities despite coming off as confident, said she felt good about her chances of getting the coveted date rose.

However, that honor ended up going to Lauren, who earlier had told Matt she was looking for “a man of faith.”  Matt revealed that, while he didn’t tend to bring religion up in conversations, he shared the same values.

Down, but not out, Victoria vowed to make up for the loss at the pre-rose ceremony cocktail party, leaving the others to wonder what she had up her sleeve.

But first, there was another one-on-one date, this time with Sarah, who joined Matt for a thrilling ride aboard a 1930s biplane.

After an amazing day, Sarah revealed that her father is struggling with ALS — or Lou Gehrig’s disease — a progressive neurodegenerative disease that leaves its victims unable to move or speak.  Sarah, who left her job as a broadcaster to care for her dad, struggled with the idea of leaving his side to be on The Bachelor, and only agreed to participate because he wanted her to “find love,”

Sarah’s “honesty,” as well as her “big” heart, was “all the reassurance” Matt needed to make up his mind about offering her the rose.

Leading up to the rose ceremony, Victoria amped up the drama between her and Marylynn by telling Matt that the 28-year-old event coordinator was “toxic,” which Marylynn denied.  That left Matt having to decide which of the two women he believed.

After trying in vain to clear the air with Victoria, Marylynn was left in tears, while the others — frustrated over missing precious time with Matt ahead of the ceremony — expressed their contempt with Victoria and the stunt she pulled.

The episode ended with a cliffhanger when the rose ceremony was abruptly halted because Sarah nearly blacked out and had to be escorted out of the room, requiring medical attention.

The Bachelor returns Monday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

(WASHINGTON) — The Capitol riot suspect accused of stealing Nancy Pelosi’s lectern was released from jail Monday afternoon on a $25,000 bond.

Adam Johnson, 36, of Parrish, Florida, did not answer reporters’ questions following his federal court appearance in Tampa. Federal investigators arrested Johnson on Friday and say he was the man seen in a viral photo taken during Wednesday’s siege smiling as he carried the lectern through the halls of the building.

He has been charged with “one count of knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority; one count of theft of government property; and one count of violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds,” according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.

David Bigney, one of Johnson’s attorneys, said his client would not be making any statements.

“Obviously if he could turn back the clock, I would suspect he would,” Bigney told reporters.

Federal investigators said the lectern, which has a value of more than $1,000, was found by a Senate staff member a day after the riots in the Red corridor of the Senate wing off the rotunda in the Capitol building.

Johnson was ordered to appear in federal court in Washington D.C. on Jan. 19, and his attorney told reporters he will make the appearance. He is barred from traveling anywhere but D.C. for his court appearance, according to prosecutors.

Johnson was also ordered to surrender any weapons and his passport and must comply with a home curfew between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Johnson will have a monitoring system, but not an ankle monitor, according to prosecutors.

Sony's Spider-Man spin-off 'Morbius' delayed for COVID-19

No Comments Entertainment News

Sony Pictures (LOS ANGELES) — Morbius, the Sony Pictures movie in which Jared Leto plays the vampiric Marvel Comics anti-hero, has become the first movie to get its release date officially bumped in 2021.

Variety reports the film was supposed to come out March 19, but the studio has bumped it to October 8.

With theaters throughout the U.S. still shuttered for COVID-19, and with pandemic cases surging in cities like Los Angeles, it’s likely that Morbius won’t be the last movie this year to see its date shifted.

In the movie, the Oscar winning actor plays Michael Morbius, a doctor who’s suffering from a rare blood disease. In order to cure himself, Morbius undergoes a risky experiment, which ends up giving him vampiric abilities.

Created by Roy Thomas and designed by Gil Kane, Morbius first appeared on the pages of Marvel Comics back in 1971, in The Amazing Spider-Man #101.

Morbius, like 2018’s Venom, is a Sony Pictures film set in the Spider-Man universe. It also stars Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, and Tyrese Gibson.

Leto previously played The Joker in the 2016 DC Comics film Suicide Squad, and will reportedly return in HBO Max’s upcoming “Snyder Cut” of Justice League — which will debut on the small screen in March.

Marvel is owned by Disney, the parent company of ABC News.
