Macaulay Culkin joins petition to edit Donald Trump out of 'Home Alone 2'

Erik Voake/Getty Images for Adult Swim(LOS ANGELES) — Fans aren’t the only ones who are on board for editing President Donald Trump out of Home Alone 2, so is the movie’s star Macaulay Culkin.

It all started when a fan of the 1992 holiday classic put the idea forward on Sunday, tweeting, “Petition to digitally replace trump in ‘home alone 2’ with 40-year-old macaulay culkin.”

Culkin replied to the notion on Wednesday with a simple, “Sold.”

The former child star portrayed Kevin McAllister in the beloved Christmas film, which featured a brief cameo by Trump. In the clip, Kevin finds himself in New York’s Plaza Hotel where he stops a stranger — aka Trump — and asks where the lobby is. “Down the hall and to the left,” Trump answers before walking away.

The call to clip this section of the movie comes after the riots at the U.S. Capitol that occurred on January 6. However, it seems the scene had already been cut out years prior by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). The day after Christmas in December 2019 many fans took to Twitter to express their thoughts on Trump’s absence from the film.

“As is often the case with feature films adapted for television, Home Alone 2 was edited for time. The scene with Donald Trump was one of several that were cut from the movie as none of them were integral to the plot,” the CBC said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “These edits were done in 2014 when we first acquired the film and before Mr. Trump was elected President.”

FBI discusses possibility of explosive devices at expected protests linked to inauguration

(WASHINGTON) — The danger to the public and to law enforcement officers from explosive devices during expected upcoming protests “is substantial,” the FBI warned in a new awareness bulletin obtained by ABC News.

The document includes photos of devices used in the last eight months against civilian and law enforcement targets during public protests.

“Devices targeting infrastructure also increased following violent activity during this time period,” the document said.

The FBI now wants to make first responders aware of what has been deployed in the past and what they might encounter during demonstrations linked to the inauguration.

“The danger posed to law enforcement officers and the general public from the all the tactics listed is substantial,” the bulletin reads. “If a suspicious item is reasonably believed to contain explosives, an IED, or other hazardous material, DO NOT touch, tamper with, or move the item. Only bomb disposal personnel should handle any suspected devices that are located.”

An internal FBI bulletin obtained by ABC News earlier this week stated that armed protests are being planned at all 50 state capitols and at the U.S. Capitol at least through Inauguration Day, in the wake of a pro-Trump siege on the Capitol last week.

During that riot last week, suspected pipe bombs were found outside of the Democratic National Committee and Republican National Committee, a few blocks from the Capitol. U.S. Capitol Police later said they were “hazardous” and could have caused “great harm.” A federal law enforcement source told ABC News the suspected weapons were active and not fake devices.

Jeff Swensen/Getty Images for “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” Pittsburgh Special Screening(LOS ANGELES) — Joanne Byrd Rogers, the beloved wife of the late TV personality Fred Rogers, has died at 92.

Fred Rogers Productions delivered the heartbreaking news of Joanne’s passing in a social media post Thursday.

“Fred Rogers Production is deeply saddened by the passing of Joanne Rogers,” the organization shared on Facebook and Twitter. “Joanne was a brilliant and accomplished musician, a wonderful advocate for the arts, and a dear friend to everyone in our organization.”

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to Joanne’s family and the thousands of people who had the privilege of knowing and loving her,” it added.

For 50 years, Joanne was married to Fred Rogers, the iconic TV personality behind the popular children’s TV show Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood from 1968 to 2001.

The couple, who married in 1952, met at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, where Joanne was studying music on a scholarship and Fred had transferred to from Dartmouth College. The two bonded over their love of music.

“Music meant a lot to both of us,” she said during an interview with TEDxPittsburghWomen in 2019. “We had that in common and we talked often of, ‘How do people live without music?’”

After her husband lost his battle to stomach cancer at 74 in 2003, Joanne continued to keep his legacy alive by sharing his messages of kindness and by serving as the honorary chair of the advisory council for the Fred M. Rogers Center for Early Learning and Children’s Media.

Joanne was also the chair emerita of the board of directors of Fred Rogers Productions, which was founded by her husband in 1971 and was aimed to create media for children. It was initially founded as Family Communications, Inc.

Nearly three years after 'Dark Horse,' Devin Dawson delivers the upbeat 'Pink Slip'

No Comments Country Music News

Tyler ConradIf you listen to Devin Dawson‘s new The Pink Slip EP, you might assume it’s a well-thought-out concept album.

But the California native admits it was more of an attempt to organize all the songs he’s written since his debut was released almost exactly three years ago.

“We talked about how I have three sides of me that I do really well… that [were] showcased on Dark Horse…” Devin tells ABC Audio. “And one of them is that kind of groovy, radio-centric, soulful, sunny ‘All on Me’ thing.”

The new songs in the vein of Devin’s breakthrough hit were the ones he recorded first, and the only ones he was able to finish before COVID-19 hit.

“It was really, really lucky that these were the first songs that we started with,” he explains, “because then I listen to them as a whole and it was like, ‘Wow, this is dope. This is actually something that is really indicative of the things that I’ve gone through in the last year.'”

“And it’s also something that I really feel like people need and want in these times,” he adds.

In this case, Pink Slip doesn’t refer to losing a job, but to the title certificate referenced in the TimMcGraw-inspired “I Got a Truck.” Devin’s grandfather stars in the “He Loved Her” video, while his wife Leah shows up in the “Whatever Forever Is” lyric video.

“Until you’re looking backwards, it doesn’t really make sense why things happen the way they do,” Devin reflects. “And so it’s really cool to see it come to fruition, in a kind of meant-to-be, everything-happens-for-a-reason kind of way.”

Tonight, Devin celebrates The Pink Slip EP with an 8 p.m. ET performance on his YouTube channel.
