'The Bachelor' recap: A night of drama ends with a shocking departure

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC/Craig Sjodin(LOS ANGELES) — On Monday’s episode of The Bachelor, the drama around Sarah continued to build, creating a tense friction that eventually led to her sudden her departure.

Monday’s episode picked up where last week’s left off — with Matt interrupting the rose ceremony to assist Sarah, whose had an anxiety attack because she had difficulty seeing him with other women. However, the other women viewed Sarah’s fainting episode as a ploy to grab Matt’s attention.

As one drama was unfolding, another came to a quick end, as Matt settled the spat between Victoria and Marylynn by sending the latter packing.

Next, Victoria joined Rachael, Bri, Lauren, Kit, Serena C., Khaylah, Anna, Kaili and Katie for a steamy group date, featuring Bachelor Nation favorite Ashley Iaconetti Haibon, who offered the women a chance to write their own hot love scenes with Matt and read them in front of a live audience comprised of the other ladies.

Not surprisingly, Katie — the woman who spent the premiere episode waving around an adult toy — had Matt and all the other ladies blushing with her graphic depiction of how a night with her and Matt would go.  The audience was also shocked, but not surprised, by Victoria’s extremely X-rated account of her dream date with Matt.

Rachael walked off with the date rose, but the night was really all about about Sarah, whose increasing need for validation led her to crash the after party and put her at the center of a firestorm.

Sarah’s attempt to apologize to the other women — some of whom didn’t get to talk to Matt — fell on deaf ears, as they became even more suspicious of Sarah’s motives.

Following a romantic one-on-one date that saw Serena P., deepen her relationship with Matt and walk off with the date rose, the drama between Sarah and the women escalated when a second attempt to offer up an apology for her actions was met with more anger and hostility.

Katie, upset by the group’s response to Sarah’s apology, reached out to the 24-year-old and the two engaged in an emotional conversation.  There, Sarah admitted she felt a need to leave the competition to be with her dad, whose battle with ALS had left him with “maybe weeks” to live.  Katie, who lost her father in 2012, felt Sarah’s pain and supported her decision.

Matt, who clearly had feelings for Sarah, also understood her decision, though it left him devastated.

The outcome left the women breathing a sigh of relief, but this is The Bachelor, so there’s even more drama ahead as a new group of suitors will be joining them next week.  Here are the remaining women after Monday night:

Abigail, 25, a client financial manager from Beaverton, Ore.
Anna, 24, a copywriter from Chicago, Ill.
Bri, 24, a communications manager from San Francisco, Calif.
Chelsea, 28, a runway model from Brooklyn, N.Y.
Jessenia, 27, a social media marketer from San Antonio, Texas
Kaili, 26, a hostess from Chicago, Ill.
Katie, 29, a bank marketing manager from Renton, Wash.

Mari, 24, a marketing director from Odenton, Md.
MJ, 23, a hairstylist from Hudson, Ohio
Pieper, 23, a graduate student from Happy Valley, Ore.
Rachael, 24, a graphic designer from Cumming, Ga.
Serena C., 24, a flight attendant from San Francisco, Calif.
Victoria, 27, a queen from Los Angeles, Calif.

Denzel Washington reacts to son John David's praise: "I'm speechless"

No Comments Entertainment News

Allen Berezovsky/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — Denzel Washington was rendered “speechless” after receiving some unexpected praise.

In an interview with Access Hollywood, Washington became visibly emotional after learning his son, John David, praised his recent recognition as the “best actor of the 21st century.”

“It’s about time,” John David had said in a previous interview with Access. “I think he is one of the greatest to ever do it so it was a very proud moment for our entire family.”

After being read the compliment, Washington smiled deeply in thought.

“Wow. I’m speechless,” he said. “I forgot what the question was but I’m speechless. I didn’t know he said that.”

“Watch out for his sister,” Washington added. “His sister is a great actor. Olivia Washington.”

As previously reported, The New York Times named Denzel the “Greatest Actor of the 21st Century (So Far),” with critics Manohla Dargis and A.O. Scott writing that it was the easiest decision to make when compiling the list.

“We wrangled and argued about every other slot on the list, but there was no hesitation or debate about this one,” Scott wrote.”Denzel Washington is beyond category: a screen titan who is also a subtle and sensitive craftsman, with serious old-school stage training and blazing movie-star presence. “

The critics also noted Washington’s long and successful career in Hollywood as a “rebuke to the racist industry in which he works.”

With a slew of films under his belt, the Oscar-winning actor has yet to slow down. Up next he will star in the psychological thriller The Little Things where he will play a detective on the search for a serial killer.

The Little Things, also starring Rami Malek and Jared Leto, hits select theaters and HBO Max on Jan. 29.

Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas reportedly call it quits

No Comments Entertainment News

MEGA/GC Images(LOS ANGELES) — Ben Affleck’s much-covered relationship with Bond girl Ana de Armas is reportedly over.

That’s what a source is telling E! News, reportedly adding that the break-up is amicable. “Both of them have completely full lives in a good way,” the source says. “There will always be that love.”

The pair confirmed their dating status 10 months ago, when de Armas’ Instagram captured pictures of the pair vacationing in her native Cuba together; a trip that also included seeing the sights in Costa Rica.

De Armas, 32, will be seen next in the James Bond film No Time To Die, which — so far — is scheduled for an April 2 release. Oscar winner Affleck, 48, will soon be tackling the adaptation of a best-selling young adult fantasy series, Keeper of the Lost Cities, for ABC News’ parent company Disney. He’ll also be seen in March as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the upcoming “Snyder cut” of Justice League on HBO Max.

(WASHINGTON) — Federal authorities are continuing to charge rioters who took part in the siege on Capitol Hill.

One New York resident was arrested Monday, according to federal court documents

Nicholas Moncada, a 20-year-old student at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan, was taken into custody at his Staten Island home. He allegedly livestreamed his “storming” of the Capitol on Jan. 6, prosecutors said.

Moncada allegedly also posted a selfie of himself inside the Capitol, captioning it, “Outside Pelosi’s office.”

He was recognized by fellow FIT students, who then alerted the FBI to his involvement, according to the court documents.

In a statement to ABC News, Moncada’s attorney, Mario Gallucci, said he is not facing any violent charges.

“Mr. Moncada was taken into custody this morning by the FBI and has been charged with various sections of the United States Code for trespassing inside a restricted building and trying to disrupt or impeded the conduct of Government business, as well as, trespassing on the floor of various Government rooms including the House of Congress, the lobby adjacent to the floor and the Rayburn Room of the House of Congress,” Galluci said. “I do not believe he is being charged with committing any acts of violence. Mr. Moncada denies any participation in the effort to overthrow the Government, and he looks forward to defending his good name.”

Freeport, New York, resident Thomas Fee allegedly sent a relative of his girlfriend a selfie of himself inside the Capitol, prosecutors said. He’s been charged by authorities but is not in police custody.

In the text message, Fee, 53, allegedly wrote that he was “at the tip of the spear,” a reference to the Capitol rotunda, according to the court documents.

Fee drove to Washington, D.C., on Jan. 5, and a license plate reader in New York picked up the Chevy Tahoe he was driving upon his return on Jan. 7, the court documents state.

Dozens of rioters who participated in the siege have been taken into custody.

Last week, the man seen wearing a “Camp Auschwitz” hoodie, Olympic gold medalist swimmer Klete Keller and several members of law enforcement were arrested in connection to the riot.

It is unclear whether Fee has retained an attorney.
