Kenny Chesney co-writer Greylan James went from dressing as Kenny for Halloween to having a hit on his hands

No Comments Country Music News

Courtesy of Essential Broadcast MediaKenny Chesney has a Top 5 hit on his hands with his current single, “Happy Does.” But for one of the song’s writers, Greylan James, the song is more than a radio success: It’s a full-circle moment that he can trace back to when he was a little kid.

At five years old, Greylan — who shares a hometown with Kenny — dressed up as the country superstar for Halloween, complete with straw cowboy hat and acoustic guitar in hand. Six years later, he even met his country music hero while playing banjo at a benefit show outside of Knoxville, Tennessee.

“I’d just gotten my first C, and I’d told my dad, ‘I don’t need school, I’m gonna be a country star,’” Greylan remembers, going on to say that he got some advice from Kenny that stuck with him that day.

“Kenny looked me in the eye. He said, ‘Here are my two things: Stay in school. Learn how to write songs,’” Greylan continues. “And I really took that to heart!”

The years he spent honing his songwriting skills paid off later, when Kenny selected “Happy Does” to include on his 2020 album, Here and Now.

“When I heard the song, it was so positive and felt so happy!” The singer notes. “You couldn’t not smile listening, and I felt like the world needed a little bit of that right now. To me, it was everything I was raised on — and it turns out Greylan was raised on the same stuff, too.”

“Happy Does” is at the number-two spot on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. Greylan wrote the song alongside Brock Berryhill, Brad Clawson and Jamie Paulin.

Michael B. Jordan says he's open to return to 'Black Panther 2': It "will always be on the table"

No Comments Entertainment News

Marvel Studios(LOS ANGELES) — Michael B. Jordan says he hasn’t closed the door on the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In an interview with People, Jordan revealed that he’d be open to reprise his Black Panther role of Erik “Killmonger” Stevens if asked to return.

“That’s something that is very, very near and dear to my heart for a lot of obvious reasons,” Jordan said, referring to the loss of Chadwick Boseman, who passed away last August from colon cancer. “[I] had a really tough year losing somebody close to me. And what that means for that franchise is…devastating.”

“But being in that world in a character that I loved playing, and working with [writer-director Ryan Coogler] and all that good stuff, it’s family,” he continues. “We created a family over there. So to be able to be in that world again is something that, I think, will always be on the table in some capacity.”

Although official details on Black Panther 2 have not been released, Marvel president Kevin Feige told Deadline earlier this month that the sequel wouldn’t revolve around one person, but rather explore Wakanda’s “characters and subcultures.”

“So much of the comics and that first movie is the world of Wakanda. This was always and initially the primary focus of the next story,” said Feige when asked what will happen to Boseman’s titular character. “We’re not going to have a CG Chadwick and we’re not recasting [his character] T’Challa.”

Meanwhile, Jordan is keeping busy with his own personal projects. In addition to making his directorial debut with Creed III, he is also gearing up for Without Remorseand Journal for Jordan — the latter of which he’ll work with Oscar winner Denzel Washington.

“Being able to be directed by [Denzel] is a blessing and such a learning experience for me,” Jordan says.

Kris Kristofferson quietly retired in January 2020

No Comments Country Music News

Per Ole Hagen/RedfernsKris Kristofferson has retired, according to a statement from his PR director Tamara Saviano.

In fact, the “Help Me Make it Through the Night” star and legendary songwriter seems to have stepped away from the music business without fanfare in early 2020, with his last performance taking place in January of that year on the Outlaw Country Cruise.

Kristofferson, now 84 years old, has transferred the management of his estate and independent label KK Records to his son, John Kristofferson, who will work alongside Morris Higham Management and Saviano to further the singer-songwriter’s legacy.

“The name has always been synonymous with songwriting as an art, and we’re excited to reintroduce his work to new and old fans alike,” the younger Kristofferson explains. “We have many exciting projects in the works and I look forward to getting them out into the world.”

In addition to his work as a recording artist, Kristofferson is known for writing some of the best-known songs in country music history. His catalogue includes “Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down,” which was a hit for Johnny Cash, “Me and Bobby McGee,” a posthumous chart-topper for Janis Joplin, and scores of others.

He also joined Cash, Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings to form the ‘80s supergroup The Highwaymen, and had an impressive acting career to boot. Kristofferson has been a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame since 2004.

Klosing time: Trailer for the final season of 'Keeping up with the Kardashians' just dropped

No Comments Entertainment News

E! Entertainment(LOS ANGELES) — “We didn’t think that anyone would be into watching a show about our crazy family.” That’s what Kim Kardashian West says in the open of the trailer for E!’s final season of Keeping up with the Kardashians.

As it turned out, people were into it — for the past 14 years — but in the tearful trailer, fans will start to see how it all ends.

The sneak-peek, set to Harry Styles’ weepy “Welcome to the Final Show”, shows Momager Kris Jenner crying as she tells KUWTK‘s crew that the reality show’s 20th season will be its last, and the waterworks keep flowing from there.

The snippet doesn’t make any references to Kim’s rumored drama with husband Kanye West, though Kim is shown briefly crying on her phone; the sneak peek also hints that Kourtney Kardashian and her ex Scott Disick are getting closer, “they were made for each other,” Kendall Jenner says, “like they are supposed to be together.”

The coming attraction also seems to show the Kardashian gang in, er, Kwarantine, keeping themselves amused with a low-key New Year’s Eve gathering in the living room, and Kylie Jenner seemingly playing charades.

The latter, who turned her time on the show into a billion dollar bottom line as an influencer and entrepreneur, admits, “I’m just really blessed to have had this opportunity to even do this.”

A set of title cards reads, “The Era. The Empire. The End.”

The final season of Keeping up with the Kardashians kicks off March 18 on E!
