HBO Max announces 'Zack Snyder's Justice League' will debut on March 18

No Comments Entertainment News

HBO Max(LOS ANGELES) — HBO Max announced Friday that the anticipated “Snyder Cut” of Warner Bros. Pictures’ Justice League will premiere on the streaming service as a full-length feature on Thursday, March 18.

The announcement came in the form of three post-apocalyptic looking teaser posters released on social media. One features a flag with a tattered “JL” logo, another shows two seemingly discarded film cans reading “Snyder,” and a third shows the “JL” logo made of stone and smashed.

There had been reporting that the film was being re-cut as a four-hour miniseries, but the new announcement appears to make it clear that the movie will be a single feature.

Snyder was forced to step away from the project following a family tragedy in March of 2017. Avengers director Joss Whedon took over and substantially retooled the film, which delivered a disappointing $657.9 million worldwide and subsequently ignited disappointed fans’ curiosity as to what Snyder’s version would have looked like.

Their enthusiasm, and the viral hashtag #ReleaseTheSnyderCut — which was backed by Justice League‘s stars including Jason “Aquaman” Momoa and Gal “Wonder Woman” Gadot — led Warner Bros. to invest millions to allow Synder to re-cut the movie to suit his original vision.

Co-star Diane Lane, who played Clark Kent/Superman’s adoptive mother, Martha, recently applauded the fans’ efforts as “fantastic.” She told ABC Audio, “A one-way street became a two-way street in terms of the fans responding to the material, and then it takes on its own life.”

Too soon? "Cannibal love story" from Armie Hammer's former 'Call Me By Your Name' director gets flamed

No Comments Entertainment News

LR- Hammer, Guadagnino, Chalamet — Karwai Tang/WireImage(LOS ANGELES) — (NOTE LANGUAGE, CONTENT) As allegations against Armie Hammer continue to mount, accusing him of having sordid fantasies involving cannibalism, some Internet users are crying foul over a new project reuniting his former film collaborators.

The Hollywood Reporter noted that Call Me By Your Name director Luca Guadagnino and Hammer’s co-star in that film, Timothee Chalamet, were in talks to reunite for Bones and All, based on Camille DeAngelis’ novel about a young woman who “has the urge to kill and eat the people that love her,” which has been described as a “cannibal love story.”

While Hammer wasn’t involved in the film, gossip site Just Jared’s Instagram posted a picture of Guadagnino, Chalamet, and Hammer together, and one of the first comments happened to be from Hammer’s ex-wife, Elizabeth Chambers, who wrote, “No. Words.”

While Chambers’ brief, cryptic comment can be interpreted any number of ways, it earned thousands of likes.

Recently, Hammer’s 22-year-old ex-girlfriend, Paige Lorezne, made new and disturbing claims to the Daily Mail, and displayed a photo of a small “A” she claims he carved into her. She also said he was “obsessed” with the idea of “taking a piece of me…and consuming it.”

The initial allegations, reportedly culled from leaked and unverified sexting DMs, led Hammer to drop out of the Jennifer Lopez& film Shotgun Wedding. In a statement to Entertainment TonightHammer later called the first allegations “bulls***…” and “…vicious and spurious online attacks…”

In a statement to DailyMail.com, Hammer’s lawyer said of the latter allegations, ‘These assertions about Mr. Hammer are patently untrue. Any interactions with [Lorenze], or any partner of his, were completely consensual in that they were fully discussed, agreed upon, and mutually participatory.'”

“Freedom Was a Highway”: Jimmie Allen’s Brad Paisley duet soars onto country radio

No Comments Country Music News

BBR Music GroupJimmie Allen has officially selected his next single, and it’s “Freedom Was a Highway,” his breezy and nostalgic duet with Brad Paisley. Jimmie co-wrote the song, and the singer says it reminds him of simpler days driving back roads in his home state.

“When I was writing this song with my co-writers, I imagined myself driving down my favorite roads in Delaware,” he says. “This song takes me back to simpler moments such as my innocent, childhood crush on the next-door neighbor or feeling freedom in the wind as you drive with the windows down.”

The song comes off of Jimmie’s Bettie James EP, a star-studded collaborations project that features appearances from the likes of Darius Rucker, Tim McGraw and the late Charley Pride. But the singer says that for this particular song, there could be no better fit than his duet partner, Brad.

“I’m a huge admirer of Brad Paisley. I love what he brings to music and I had to have him bring that same magic to this song. I’m humbled to have him join me on this song — he brought the ‘Freedom’ to the ‘Highway’,” the singer reflects.

Adds Brad, “It’s a magical combination — it doesn’t sound like a typical record for me at all, and when I come in, I try my best not to ruin Jimmie Allen’s song.”

The “I’m Gonna Miss Her” star goes on to say that he used his signature instrument to bring some of his own personal flair to the track. “I use my guitar to make a record sort of sound like I’m on it even before you hear me sing, and I love this guitar solo,” he explains.

You can hear “Freedom Was a Highway” on the radio beginning Monday, February 1.

How to stay safe in the cold as frigid temperatures head to Northeast

No Comments National News

Leonid Ikan/iStockBy EMILY SHAPIRO and MARIAM ALAM, ABC News

(NEW YORK) — Break out the gloves and hats — the coldest air of the season is slamming the Northeast.

Boston hit 7 degrees Friday morning — the city’s coldest temperature in two years.

On Saturday morning, the wind chill — what the temperature feels like — is expected to plunge to 1 degree in New York City, minus 7 degrees in Boston and minus 8 degrees in Syracuse, New York.

Here is your cheat sheet for how to brave the frigid weather, from what to wear outside to what to remember when driving.

How to stay safe outside

Those with prolonged exposure or those not dressed appropriately for the weather are in danger of frostbite and hypothermia, National Weather Service meteorologist Jay Engle told ABC News.

Frostbite results in the loss of feeling and color in affected areas — usually the nose, ears, cheeks, fingers, toes or chin, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Frostbite could potentially cause permanent damage and, in severe cases, can lead to amputation, the CDC said.

Someone suffering from frostbite can be unaware of it because tissues that become frozen are numb, the CDC said. These are all signs of frostbite: numbness, white or grayish-yellow skin, or skin that feels unusually firm or waxy.

“Don’t rub your hands — if you have frost-nip or frostbite, rubbing actually causes tissue damage,” Dr. Randall Wexler, professor of family medicine at Ohio State University, told ABC News.

If you think you are developing frostbite, “keep the area covered if you can … because if you have frostbite on your hand and you pull off your glove, you may cause tissue damage,” Wexler said.

He added, “That’s also when you want to start trying to raise your core body temperature — get rid of wet clothes, put on clothes that are warm and dry.”

There’s also hypothermia — or abnormally low body temperature — which can impact the brain, “making the victim unable to think clearly or move well,” the CDC said. “This makes hypothermia especially dangerous, because a person may not know that it’s happening and won’t be able to do anything about it.”

Warning signs for adults are shivering, exhaustion, confusion, fumbling hands, memory loss, slurred speech and drowsiness. Warning signs for infants are bright red or cold skin and very low energy, the CDC said.

Engle recommends to “dress in three or more layers. One big thick winter coat tends not to do the trick. You have to have a thick sweater underneath and then a lighter jacket on top of that and then your winter coat.”

“People really should keep their heads covered because that’s where majority of heat gets lost,” Engle added.

Wexler said moving can generate heat. But try to avoid sweating.

“If you are overheated and start to sweat, that lowers your body temperature and makes you more susceptible to cold injury,” he said. “You want to be able to adjust your layers, zip and unzip.”

Wexler also recommended staying hydrated because “dehydration can help promote cold injury.”

The young and elderly should be especially careful in the cold.

“Their ability to maintain core body temperature is harder than mid-age and younger adults,” he said. “Kids, especially babies, lose a disproportionate amount of heat from their head — that’s why you want to have a hat on their head when you’re out there. Older people are more at risk simply because it is more difficult to regulate our core body temperature as we get older.”

It’s also more difficult to maintain your core temperature if you are diabetic or taking decongestant antihistamines or certain blood pressure medications, Wexler said.

How to keep your car safe

When the temperature dips, getting behind the wheel can prove to be a challenge. Problems include dead car batteries, iced-over windshields, broken car locks and driving with no traction.

Audra Fordin, founder of Woman Auto Know and the owner of Great Bear Auto Repair in Queens, New York, provided these tips:

1. Before you hit the road, check under the hood.

“If it’s really cold outside, you want to make sure that your battery is going to be good in the freezing cold weather,” Fordin said. “If you see any snow or blue stuff that’s growing off your battery, that’s an indication you want to go to the shop to have your battery checked.”

2. Iced out windshields? Turn to your wallet for help.

“If you get to your car and can’t see, pull out a credit card, and you can just wipe that frost away,” Fordin said.

3. Fighting a stubborn car lock? Get sanitizing.

“If your lock is frozen, put the sanitizer on the key, and then put the key into the lock,” Fordin said.

4. If your car can’t gain traction, let your floor mat give an assist.

“Grab your floor mat, you’re going to put it underneath the wheel,” Fordin said. “That will give you enough traction to pull your car out and hit the road.”

Katherine Heigl says her mental health suffered after Hollywood labelled her "difficult"

No Comments Entertainment News

“Firefly Lane” – Netflix(LOS ANGELES) — (NOTE LANGUAGE) Grey’s Anatomy alum Katherine Heigl reflected on her turbulent time in Hollywood after she began speaking her mind about her career.

In a candid interview with The Washington Post, the 42-year-old actress opened up about the time she was branded “difficult” and Hollywood started “shunning” her — which she says was punishment for advocating for herself.

“I may have said a couple of things you didn’t like, but then that escalated to ‘she’s ungrateful,’ then that escalated to ‘she’s difficult’ and that escalated to ‘she’s unprofessional,'” explained Heigl. “What is your definition of difficult? Somebody with an opinion that you don’t like?”

The Firefly Lane star wouldn’t shy away from discussing what she liked and didn’t like about her current projects, most famously when she called Judd Apatow’s Knocked Up “a little sexist” for making certain women appear as “shrews.”

She also famously took herself out of the running for Emmy consideration one season when she was on Grey’s Anatomy, criticizing the show’s writing as not being up to snuff for her character. She eventually left the show for a movie career that saw diminishing returns.

In a 2014 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Grey’s creator Rhimes said of her shows: “I don’t put up with bulls**t or nasty people, I don’t have time for it.” She added that there were “no Heigls” working on her current shows, which also included Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder.

Heigl said she wasn’t deterred from speaking her mind back then, adding, “You can be the most awful, difficult, horrible person on the planet, but if you’re making them money, they’re going to keep hiring you… But then my films started to make not quite as much money.”

Heigl says her deteriorating reputation caused her mental health to spiral.

“I think my family, my mother, my husband, my friends were scared. And I regret deeply that I scared them like that. But I just couldn’t control it. I had no tools,” the 27 Dresses star confessed, adding, “I asked my mom and my husband to find me somewhere to go that could help me because I felt like I would rather be dead.”

Heigl, who was recently diagnosed with anxiety and is now regularly seeing a therapist, is unafraid to return to Hollywood and speak her mind.

As for what she hopes for Firefly Lane?  That it’s renewed for three seasons.
