Blake Shelton is still a Nick Jonas superfan in 80s-inspired 'The Voice' ad

No Comments Country Music News

NBCUniversalBlake Shelton continues to be a Nick Jonas superfan in the latest ad for The Voice

The clip opens as Blake flips through a series of polaroid photos of he and fellow judges Nick, John Legend and Kelly Clarkson from the set of The Voice. The country star is admiring several shots of him with the 28-year-old Jonas brother when he gets caught in a space time continuum that sends him back in time to the 1980s.

There, he’s joined by his fellow judges to perform a lively version of Rick Astley‘s hit “Together Forever.” Blake trades his cowboy boots for a suit and tie as he and the other three coaches try out classic 80s choreography in a neon-filled room, Blake at one point offering a high-five to a denim-clad Nick.

Blake comes back to reality though as Nick approaches him on the set saying “it’s good to be back,” the “Minimum Wage” singer unable to form words.

Nick is serving as a coach on the show for the second time after Blake’s fiancee Gwen Stefani stepped down from her coaching position last season.

The Voice season 20 premieres on March 1 on NBC at 8 p.m. ET.

Megxit, stage left: Poll says majority of Brits don't want to watch Oprah's interview with Harry and Meghan

No Comments Entertainment News

Samir Hussein/WireImage(LONDON) — While the appetite for the story of the runaway royals shows no sign of stopping in the States, it seems Brits are returning the favor to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry for turning their backs on their royal lives.

In a Redfield & Wilton Strategies poll published by the U.K. publication The Sun, more than half of Brits surveyed said they’re not going to watch an upcoming interview with America’s veritable queen, Oprah Winfrey.

The 90-minute special will air on CBS on our shores March 7, but in the U.K., 55% of those polled by The Sun said they won’t be tuning in when it airs the next morning over The Pond.

Only 27% said they’d be tuning in.

What’s more, the survey said 43% don’t want the Duke and Duchess to return to Britain and “resume an active role in the Royal Family.”

A third said their opinions on the couple have gone “downhill” since they left the U.K.

The Sun noted the poll was conducted before the pair were officially stripped of their royal duties by Queen Elizabeth II — however, 44% said she should do so.

Live action game show based on 'Frogger' jumping to Peacock

No Comments Entertainment News

David McNew/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — In a move that would have made Seinfeld‘s high score holder George Costanza green with envy, NBC’s streaming service Peacock has announced it’s creating a “supersized physical competition series” based on the ’80s video game FROGGER

According to the streamer, the show’s concept “brings to life” the video game, pitting human contestants on an “epic” obstacle course that emulates the perilous journeys across the street — and the screen — undertaken by players who controlled its jumping amphibian character.

Like the 1981 Konami game of the same name, this IRL version of FROGGER will pit players against treacherous traffic, snapping gators and hungry hippos.

Unlike the game, however, Peacock’s version of FROGGER will net the winning player a “massive” cash prize.

Jameela Jamil says she grappled with suicidal thoughts last year

No Comments Entertainment News

Getty Images/Getty Images for Equality Now(LOS ANGELES) — (NOTE NATURE) Jameela Jamil confessed on Monday that, a year ago, she was in a dark place and contemplating ending her life.

Serving as keynote speaker at The BodCon on Sunday, The Good Place star opened up about her mental health struggles and how she worked through her darkest thoughts.

“Just a year ago I was totally suicidal,” the 34-year-old actress confessed. “This week is my birthday week. I was totally suicidal on my birthday last year because of how much people were just mocking my disability, or like, mocking my mental health and I was like, ‘What an ugly world, I don’t want to be here anymore.'”

Jamil is referring to last year’s accusations that she had Munchausen syndrome, which is called Factitious disorder, according to Mayo Clinic.  Munchausen syndrome causes people to seek attention by faking serious illness and/or injury.

The Legendary host called the reports “lies and conspiracy theories,” but they still deeply affected her mental health.

Luckily, the actress says she is a much better place and attested, “Now a year later, I’m like the strongest and the happiest and the freest I’ve ever been.”

The message Jamil hoped to convey is that hanging one’s self worth on the opinion of others is not healthy for one’s self esteem or mental health.

“I’m not out to impress a bunch of strangers who because of misogyny are looking to poke holes in me anyway,” the I Weigh founder attested, saying that successful women have to develop a thick skin because, “When we don’t like a woman, we will investigate every single thing she’s ever said, ever done [and] scrutinize her obsessively.”

Jamil closed out by touting the benefits of therapy alongside learning to stop comparing one’s self to beauty standards.

If you are struggling with thoughts of suicide, or worried about a friend or loved one, help is available. Call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 [TALK] for free confidential emotional support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Even if it feels like it, you are not alone.
