"That's cold": Scotty McCreery and his dog Moose take the Polar Plunge

No Comments Country Music News

John ShearerIt may be cold in North Carolina, but Scotty McCreery still took part in the “polar plunge” in an effort to help a beloved organization.

As previously announced, Scotty is participating in the Special Olympics North Carolina‘s (SONC) Plunge in Place initiative, which raises money for the organization that trains athletes with intellectual disabilities.

On Tuesday, Scotty shared a video of himself outside, dressed in a tank top and shorts, ready to take the plunge in his pool.

“It is freezing here in North Carolina, but I am here to raise awareness and money for the Special Olympics North Carolina,” the American Idol winner announced, before letting out a scream and free-falling into the pool. He was joined by his dog Moose, who wasted no time diving in, startling Scotty in the process.

“That’s cold!” the singer laughed as he quickly rushed out of the frigid water.  Moose jumped back in for another swim, as Scotty and his wife Gabi laughed.

Currently, SONC has raised more than $94,000 of its $150,000 goal.

Spring-like weather across much of US, possible heavy snow in Rockies and parts of West

No Comments National News

ABC NewsBy MAX GOLEMBO, ABC News

(NEW YORK) — It is starting to feel like spring from California to New York and around the rest of the country.

Record high temperatures were broken on Tuesday in the San Francisco Bay area with Oakland reaching 84 degrees and Napa hitting 81.

In Dallas, Texas, temperatures reached 81 degrees after being below zero last week and it was the warmest temperature in Dallas since last November.

Kansas City reached 69 degrees which made it the warmest temperatures there since November.

Elsewhere, Washington, D.C. reached 60 degrees Tuesday which was the warmest temperature there since before Christmas.

Some of this warmth will move into the Northeast Wednesday with New York City reaching the 50s and it could be the warmest temperatures there since Christmas as well.

There will be mild weather for the Eastern U.S. Wednesday with 70-degree weather in Nashville, Tennessee and temperatures in the 50s in Indianapolis and Columbus, Ohio.

This mild weather will be on and off through the weekend for the Eastern U.S. with temperatures nearing 50 degrees by Saturday, even in recently frozen Chicago.

Meanwhile, in the Rockies and the Pacific Northwest, a wintry scene is unfolding with many areas getting feet of snow in the last few days.

An avalanche warning continues for Idaho and Montana for the combination of heavy snow and windy conditions which is making the snowpack unstable.

Snow will move into Colorado Wednesday with Denver seeing a few inches while up to 8 inches of snow is possible just south and west of the city — and this is after Denver reached the 60s Wednesday.

Additional snow is also forecast in the Northwest where locally 1 to 2 feet of snow is expected in the Cascades of Washington and Oregon.

Marvel Studios(LOS ANGELES) — Michael B. Jordan says he is still healing from losing Black Panther co-star Chadwick Boseman and explained how strongly the loss affected him.

Speaking to  for its “Hollywood Issue,” the 33-year-old actor opened up about his friendship with Boseman and how it continues to influence his life.

“Our relationship was a very personal one and had a lot of great moments—some that I couldn’t fully appreciate and fully understand until now,” said Jordan. “I wish I had more time to have our relationship evolve, and grow, and become closer and stronger.”

“We got a concentrated dose of Chadwick. He did more in his 43 years of life than most people have done in a lifetime,” the Creed star furthered. “he was here for the time he was supposed to be here, and he had his impact, and his legacy. That was clear with the abundance of love that he has gotten from people all over the world.”

Noting the “generations of kids” who will continue to look up to the late actor, Jordan says losing Boseman was one of the hardest moments of his life.

“it hurt. It hurt a lot. That’s probably what made me cry the most this year,” the Emmy Award-nominee confessed.

Boseman passed away on August 28 after a silent four-year battle with colon cancer, of which Jordan expressed, “To keep something like this quiet for so long—our town is nearly impossible to do something like that in. It speaks to the type of person he was, to work as hard as he did into his last moments. It’s truly incredible.”
