"Desperately juvenile" — Charlie Sheen looks back 10 years after his infamous "Tiger Blood" meltdown

No Comments Entertainment News

PALACE LEE / Barcroft Media via Getty Images(NEW YORK) — (NOTE LANGUAGE) — While we can’t blame you for losing track of time nowadays, even considering the pandemic and everything that was 2020, it might be hard to imagine that Charlie Sheen’s infamous meltdown was 10 years ago.

A decade ago this month, Sheen was the highest paid actor on TV, with his CBS hit Two and a Half Men, until the gig and his personal life imploded — at times live on TV and streaming on his own short-lived video channel.

The actor went on a tear against the show’s creator, Chuck Lorre, gave a frenetic series of interviews where he entered the words #winning and “Tiger Blood” into our pop culture lexicon, and then was fired.

And then there was that disastrous Violent Torpedo of Truth stage tour

“I was getting loaded and my brain wasn’t working right,” Sheen recalls to Yahoo! Entertainment.

“People have [said to] me, ‘Hey, man, that was so cool, that was so fun to watch…” My thought…is, ‘Oh, yeah, great. I’m so glad that I traded early retirement for a f–king hashtag.'”

He says, “There was 55 different ways for me to handle that situation, and I chose number 56. …And it was desperately juvenile.”

He explains, “I…needed someone to reach out to and say, ‘Hey, man…How can we help?’ And instead they showed up in droves with…all types of fanfare and celebration of…what I think was a very public display of a mental health moment.”

In 2015, the actor revealed he’d been HIV positive around the time of the meltdown, and in 2017 he told Good Morning America he was enrolled in an FDA study for an experimental HIV treatment.

Now, however, he’s on the comeback trail, with a new show in development, he tells Yahoo!.

“Drunk (and I Don’t Wanna Go Home)”: Miranda Lambert + Elle King team up for a dizzying new party anthem

No Comments Country Music News

Sony Music Nashville/RCA RecordsOne-time tourmates Miranda Lambert and Elle King join forces once again for the genre-bending party banger, “Drunk (and I Don’t Wanna Go Home),” a song based on their real-life friendship and big, wild personalities.

“I think this fun song was born of our becoming friends over the last couple of years,” remarks Miranda. “We are new friends but it really feels like we are old friends, and I felt like that immediately when I met her at one of her shows.”

Adds Elle, “The true story of this song sums up our wild friendship. Miranda is someone I have looked up to as a songwriter, musician, performer and human being for a long time. So our tumbleweed snowball story of getting to know each other is the ultimate real deal kinda thing.”

The two stars paired their new duet with a music video, also out today. The clip finds Miranda and Elle as a badly-behaved bridesmaid and bride, respectively, at an over-the-top ‘80s wedding, featuring high hairstyles and even higher shoulder pads.

Miranda previously included Elle on her ACM Award-winning “Fooled Around and Fell in Love” cover, which also includes tour mates Maren Morris, Ashley McBryde, Tenille Townes and Caylee Hammack.

Speaking of the ACMs, “Drunk (and I Don’t Wanna Go Home)” arrived on the same day that the 2021 nominees were announced. Miranda held onto her record as the most-nominated artist in ACM history, picking up five mentions at the upcoming awards show.

(NEW YORK) — Delayed shipments due to last week’s massive winter storm has left New York City with an “extra” vaccine supply, Mayor Bill de Blasio said, prompting the city that never sleeps to add some overnight appointments.

De Blasio said the city is adding overnight shifts at three mass vaccination sites: Brooklyn Army Terminal, Bathgate in the Bronx and Citi Field in Queens.

“We’re going to blitz this week. This is going to be a very intense weekend,” de Blasio said at a news conference Thursday.

De Blasio said the city is also “doubling the number of appointments at some of the key sites in communities where we’re focusing on fighting disparity, at Teachers Prep and at Martin Van Buren high schools. We’re opening new pop-up sites in communities that need more outreach.”

“We get the supply we need, we can take off,” he said.

New York City had administered more than 1.6 million vaccine doses — which equals more than the entire population of Philadelphia, the mayor said.

New York City’s seven-day positivity rate stands at 7.12% as of Thursday.

“You Got Away With It”: Brett Young previews his next chapter with a bouncy new tune

No Comments Country Music News

Big Machine Label GroupBrett Young may be known for heartstring-tugging ballads like “In Case You Didn’t Know” and “Lady,” but the singer proves he’s equally adept at writing uptempo earworms with his brand new “You Got Away With It.”

Full of twang and catchy, lovestruck lyrics, “You Got Away With It” is a flirty ode to finding romance in unexpected places. Brett co-wrote the tune, and he says it’s the first taste of a new musical chapter he can’t wait to share.

“We’ve been recording a ton of music over the last year and I couldn’t wait any longer to share some of the material from this new chapter,” the singer says. “This song was a blast to write, and ultimately pushed me into a bit of a new sonic territory in the studio that I’m really proud of.”

Brett has long mined his personal life for musical inspiration, and “You Got Away With It” is no exception: The song speaks to the singer’s relationship with his wife, Taylor. The country star couple recently announced that they’re expecting their second child this summer.

Meanwhile, their first daughter, Presley, celebrated her first birthday last October. Presley and Taylor are the inspiration behind Brett’s latest chart-topper, “Lady,” which recently notched RIAA gold certification in the U.S. and Canada.

Mickey Guyton drops Amazon Original “If I Were a Boy” cover to celebrate Black History Month

No Comments Country Music News

ABC/Image Group LAFor her contribution to Amazon Orginal’s slate of Black History Month content, Mickey Guyton opted to record her spin on pop superstar Beyonce’s 2008 hit, “If I Were a Boy.”

Mickey says that the song’s meaning to her is especially personal, and has changed over the course of her fight to be recognized in the country music industry.

“It was important for me to record ‘If I Were a Boy’ because I have been fighting in country music for so long just to be accepted for who I am,” Mickey explains. “This song represents the release and the birth of something new. Really this song means so much more to me, and has a completely different meaning, than when I first heard it.”

To create the single art for her cover performance, Mickey enlisted Jamilla Okubo, who she discovered through Instagram. “When people see the cover art for my version of ‘If I Were a Boy,’ I really hope that people don’t see me, but that they see themselves,” the singer notes.

As she releases her new song, Mickey has more than one reason to celebrate: She’s nominated for New Female Artist of the Year at the upcoming 2021 ACM Awards. During last year’s awards show, Mickey became the first solo Black female artist to perform on the ACMs stage, with her powerful “What Are You Gonna Tell Her?

This year, Mickey is one of four Black artists to be nominated, a record for the ACMs. Also up for awards at the ceremony are Kane Brown, Jimmie Allen and John Legend. Additionally, director Gabrielle Woodland is nominated for Video of the Year, for her work on Maren Morris’ “Better Than We Found It.”
