Miranda Lambert says she’s planning “feminine,” “beautiful” vibes for her Grammys “Bluebird” performance

No Comments Country Music News

ABCMiranda Lambert is sharing some details about what she’s planning for her performance of her hit single, “Bluebird,” during this weekend’s Grammy Awards.

“The set is beautiful,” Miranda tells ET Online, adding that she’ll be hitting the stage live with her band.  “It’s very feminine and beautiful. Also, there’s an energy with my band and I because we haven’t played ‘Bluebird,’ really, since it’s been ‘Bluebird.’ So we’re really happy to be up there and playing music.”

Miranda is a Grammy nominee this year, appearing in three of the show’s four country categories. “Bluebird” is in the running to win Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance, while the album on which the song appears, Wildcard, is up for Best Country Album.

As for the look she’ll be sporting as she heads into the Grammys? Miranda says she’s keeping it simple, but definitely not plain.

“I’m going sleek and sexy,” the singer hints, adding that her most eye-catching accessory will be her husband, Brendan McLoughlin

“I have a dress, and a really hot husband who has a really nice suit, so we’re good on that. I’m not really a princess gal,” Miranda adds.

The Grammys will air this Sunday night at 8PM ET on CBS.

Kerry Washington announces break from social media with video celebrating "special moments" she'll miss

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC(LOS ANGELES) — Kerry Washington is taking a break form social media — but that doesn’t mean she’s going to miss out on posting for some of the “special moments” that will pass while she’s gone.

On Wednesday, the Little Fires Everywhere star shared a video to social media announcing her upcoming hiatus along with the caption, “I love you guys. But it’s time for me to take a little break from the socials.”

“I know there’s gonna be a lot of special moments unfolding in the next few weeks so I put together a video of all the moments that we would have shared together this month,” she added. “Enjoy! Miss you already.”

In the video Kerry shouted out the first day of spring, March Madness, National Popcorn Day, and even wished her celebrity colleagues Eva Longoria, Reese Witherspoon, and Mariah Carey a happy birthday.

Kerry didn’t explain the break any further, but ended the video with a simple message, “See you soon!”

Carrie Underwood shows off her groan-worthy joke birthday gift from husband Mike Fisher

No Comments Country Music News

ABCCarrie Underwood celebrated her 38th birthday on Wednesday, and according to her social media posts, she and her family marked the occasion in style.

On her Instagram stories, the singer shared snapshots of flowers with a note addressed to “Mommy” and a pink and white birthday cake wishing her happy birthday. Even sweeter were the cards from her two sons, six-year-old Isaiah and two-year-old Jacob, complete with drawings and a message reading “I love you Mom so so so much,” penned by Isaiah himself.

“That’s a lot of ‘sos’,” Carrie commented, along with an emoji of a red heart.

But one birthday gift the singer received was a little less “aw”-worthy and a little more cheesy, and that present came from her husband, former ice hockey pro Mike Fisher. In his Instagram stories, Mike showed off a selfie of Carrie wearing the T-shirt he gave her, which reads, “I don’t need Google, my husband knows everything!”

“Perfect birthday gift no[?]” Mike wrote alongside the photo.

He had a more sincere sentiment to share in a picture he posted of Carrie, still wearing the T-shirt, smiling next to her birthday cake.

“The boys and I love you like crazy,” Mike wrote. “We are so grateful for you!!”

Carrie also celebrated her birthday with the release of a new song called “Nothing but the Blood of Jesus.” That track will be included on her forthcoming gospel project, My Savior, and features backing vocals by Bear Reinhart of Christian rock group Needtobreathe.

Michael B. Jordan talks longevity, legacy and "living in my purpose"

No Comments Entertainment News

Leonardo Volcy/Men’s Health(LOS ANGELES) — People‘s “Sexiest Man Alive” Michael B. Jordan is on the April cover of Men’s Health magazine.

On Wednesday, the actor shared the cover of his muscle-toned body and thanked the publication for creating a “space to speak” on his purpose.

“Past months, I’ve focused on finding a balance between being present while living in the future. I was humbled by the beauty of the Caribbean and the time to catch my breath,” wrote Jordan in the caption.

“Finding personal time is important to your mental state. I feel calm and ready to move forward this year. Thank you to Men’s Health for the space to speak about my preparation and living in my purpose.”

The Creed star noted longevity and “legacy” as two themes he plans to focus on going into the rest of the year.

“[This past year] was just me really becoming a man,” Jordan told Men’s Health. “That’s such a cliché, overused term, and it has a lot of baggage to it. But I think when personal purpose and meaning align, it allows you to be a man. I’ve been doing this for 20-plus years…Now I get the opportunity to lead by example.”

“[I] think about legacy a lot. What I leave behind is something that I think about a lot,” he continued. “This past year brought a lot of that to the forefront of my brain. I lost a friend in Chadwick [Boseman]. There are a lot of things I want to accomplish, and I know time is limited and life is short, [so] I try to not take it for granted.”

Boseman passed away August 28 after his silent battle with cancer. Boseman and Jordan were acting friends, who grew even closer after playing arch rivals in Black Panther.

Eddie Murphy explains why 'SNL' alum Jay Pharoah could not play him in a biopic

No Comments Entertainment News

Amazon Video(LOS ANGELES) — Eddie Murphy is setting a high bar when it comes to actors who could play him in a potential biopic.

After his Coming 2 America co-star Arsenio Hall suggested that SNLalum Jay Pharoah could play him in a film, Murphy tells ABC Audio that Pharoah is just too limited to really capture him authentically.

“He could do an impression, [but] it’s different,” Murphy says of Pharoah. “Doing an impression of someone and capturing someone’s essence is different.”

“When you do a biopic, you want to capture their essence. Where you’re not doing an impression and you don’t have to look like them,” he continues. “You just captured it.”

Murphy goes on to share some examples of what he’d like to see in an actor’s portrayal.

“Like what Angela Bassett did with What’s Love Got to Do With It. She captures Tina Turner,” he says.

“Or what Denzel [Washington] did in Malcolm X,” Murphy explains. “Denzel didn’t look like Malcolm X, but halfway through the movie he starts looking like Malcolm X. There’s a scene where he’s on an airplane and coming back from Mecca and he’s not even saying anything, just kind of like sitting there. And he turned into Malcolm X.”

The comedy legend also applauded Jamie Foxx’s 2005 Oscar-winning portrayal of Ray Charles.

“There’s a scene in Ray when Jamie’s not talking. He’s standing there at the top of steps — just standing there and he… literally turns into… he is Ray Charles,” Murphy declares. “And you want to do that. You want to capture their essence.”

“I don’t know who can capture my essence like that!” he laughs.
