Miranda Lambert gives new life to “Tin Man” with Jack Ingram, Jon Randall on 'The Marfa Tapes'

No Comments Country Music News

Sony Music NashvilleBack in 2017, Miranda Lambert touched a nerve with audiences with her plaintive heartbreak ballad, “Tin Man,” which won ACM Song of the Year and was a top-20 hit at country radio.

Now, the singer’s letting listeners in to the song’s stripped-down origins with a new version on The Marfa Tapes, a collection she recorded in Marfa, Texas with frequent collaborators and fellow Texans Jon Randall and Jack Ingram.

This intimate new recording of “Tin Man” is one of 15 tracks on The Marfa Tapes, which is set to arrive in full on May 7. It’s not the only song on the project that fans have heard before: “Tequila Does,” included on the singer’s most recent album, Wildcard, also makes an appearance on the track list.

Earlier this month, Miranda, Jon and Jack shared the first new song of the project, “In His Arms.” At the time, the trio described exactly what made the town of Marfa so special, and what keeps them returning to it for creative inspiration.

“I’ll never forget pulling into Marfa that first night at four a.m.,” recalls Miranda. “The stars were like nothing I’d ever seen before, just this endless blanket hanging so low you could reach up and touch them. I immediately understood why this place is so special.”

Adds Jon, “There’s no TV, no radio, nothing to do out there but pour a cocktail, sit around the campfire and talk. Eventually, that just inevitably leads to songs.”

The trio of Texans also revealed this week that they’ll kick off the Austin City Limits series’ 47th season next month, recording an episode in front of a limited-capacity crowd.

Here's how Dakota Johnson responded to being cut off financially by her dad

No Comments Entertainment News

NBC(NEW YORK) — Dakota Johnson can thank her dad, Don Johnson for her independence, at least in his opinion.

During a recent appearance on NBC Late Night, the star of the network’s new comedy Kenan revealed to Seth Meyers that he had cut his daughter off financially after high school when she announced she wasn’t going to college.

“We have a rule in the family that, you know, if you stay in school, you get to stay on the payroll. So, you go to college, you get to stay on the payroll,” the 71-year-old actor began.

“Toward the end of high school, I went to her and I said, ‘So, do you want to go visit some colleges?’…And she was like, ‘Oh, no. I’m not going to college, no way.’ I went, ‘OK, you know what that means? You won’t be on the payroll anymore.'”

When he asked his daughter how she was going to manage, she replied, “Don’t you worry about it.” Three weeks later, she landed a role in David Fincher’s 2010 film, The Social Network.

“The rest is, shall we say, cinema history,” he continued.  “So, no, she doesn’t really call me for advice.  She calls me to say that, ‘Uh, gosh, I would see you but I’ve got three pictures that I’m shooting at the same time.’ She’s gainfully employed, and Seth, that’s a great day.”

DOJ expects at least 100 more to be charged in Capitol attack investigation

(WASHINGTON) — The Justice Department expects to charge at least 100 more still-unidentified individuals connected to the Jan. 6 attack at the U.S. Capitol, federal prosecutors revealed in a court filing Friday.

They also describe the investigation as likely “one of the largest” investigations and prosecutions in U.S. history.

Facing an unprecedented and continuously growing caseload in the U.S. attorney’s office in Washington, D.C., prosecutors in the government’s conspiracy case against members of the Oath Keepers militia group outlined the investigation’s scope as they requested a judge delay scheduling a trial in the case for at least 60 more days.

“The investigation and prosecution of the Capitol Attack will likely be one of the largest in American history, both in terms of the number of defendants prosecuted and the nature and volume of the evidence,” the filing states. “Over 300 individuals have been charged in connection with the Capitol Attack. The investigation continues and the government expects that at least one hundred additional individuals will be charged.”

A Justice Department official said earlier this week approximately 316 individuals have been charged but the department has still only unsealed roughly 290 cases as of Friday — meaning multiple cases remain unsealed as agents try and track down individuals to arrest them.

Prosecutors say that at least 900 search warrants have been executed in almost all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Investigators have accumulated more than 15,000 hours of surveillance and body-camera footage, and their evidence includes roughly 1,600 electronic devices, 210,000 tips from the public, 80,000 reports and 93,000 attachments related to law enforcement interviews of suspects and witnesses.

“As the Capitol Attack investigation is still on-going, the number of defendants charged and the volume of potentially discoverable materials will only continue to grow,” the filing states.

As many cases move into the discovery phase, the Justice Department says it is working in consultation with the Federal Public Defender’s office to develop a comprehensive plan for managing all of the evidence that defendants will expect them to produce relevant to government’s prosecutions.

Seth Rogen’s weed company’s website crashes due to “high” demand

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC/Randy Holmes(LOS ANGELES) — Seth Rogen’s cannabis company, Houseplant, ran into a little trouble on its launch day, but fortunately, it was the good kind.

Rogen debuted the company’s website on Thursday, and it promptly crashed around 10 AM PT due to “high” volume.

Seth tweeted, “Due to insane traffic we took the Houseplant site down temporarily while I learn to write code. I’m very sorry if you’ve been waiting. There’s still a lot of products available! I will let you know as soon as it’s up again.”

Luckily, Seth was able to fix the site and tweeted when it was up and running again, though he’s warning customers there’s still a waiting room to deal with the high traffic.

Later in the day, he thanked fans, saying it was “legit thrilling” to see people “enjoying our tins of weed.”
