Taylor Swift's rerecording of "Love Story" sells over 10,000 copies in its first day

Billboard reports that the song sold 10,000 times in its first day of release, which was February 12.  For comparison, just three songs sold that same amount in a week — including BTS‘s “Dynamite” and Olivia Rodrigo‘s “Drivers License.”

In addition, “Love Story (Taylor’s Version)” was streamed 5.8 million times in its first 24 hours of release.

The juggernaut single again outperformed the competition, with Billboard noting that 55 singles managed to snag more streams… but only after taking an entire week to do so.

“Love Story (Taylor’s Version)” will be the lead single off of Swift’s highly anticipated Fearless (Taylor’s Versionalbum, due out April 9.

The original Fearless, which Taylor released in 2008, which went onto become her first number one album.

When appearing Friday on Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, she says rerecording her old music was “extremely fulfilling” because she is taking a stand for all artists so they can control their own music.

“The reason that I feel so passionately that artists should own their catalogs is because if you are the creator of all of this music, you’re the only one who actually knows the ins and the outs of it,” she said. “And because I have learned what I’ve learned, I really just want to make things better for other people.”

"Chasing After You" is the latest chapter in the love story between Ryan Hurd and Maren Morris

No Comments Country Music News

Arista NashvilleRyan Hurd‘s already written number-one songs for the likes of Luke BryanBlake Shelton and Lady A, but now, the Michigan native is marking another career milestone: his first duet with his wife, Maren Morris

While “Chasing After You” is the rare song that wasn’t written by either Ryan or Maren, the two have typically not shied away from sharing their romance and their lives with their fans.

“I love getting to share stuff about her,” Ryan tells ABC Audio. “It’s kind of like — I say that if I was married to an accountant, I’d want to post about them, too.”

“So we’re really a normal couple who have really awesome jobs,” he adds. “So that’s kind of how we look at it.”

The reigning CMA and ACM Female Vocalist of the Year also isn’t shy about voicing her opinion about social issues — just one more thing Ryan loves about the mother of his son, Hayes, who’ll celebrate his first birthday in March.

“I’m really proud of the way that she uses her platform,” Ryan explains, “just because when you’re sort of at the top of your genre, you have a lot to lose.”

“And I’m really proud of the way that she always tells the truth,” he continues, “and she always speaks the truth and uses her platform to help other people.”

'The Bachelor' recap: Kit walks away as four other women eliminated ahead of hometown dates

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC/Craig Sjodin)(LOS ANGELES) — With the hometown dates a week away, on Monday’s episode of The Bachelor, Matt and his remaining suitors were left evaluating the status of their relationships — which ultimately led to a few difficult decisions.

Needless to say, Heather Martin did not receive a warm reception from the other ladies, who accused the “Bachelor-hopping” former contestant of trying to crash the pre-rose ceremony cocktail party in an attempt to land a spot this season’s competition.  The women were relieved to hear that Matt wasn’t comfortable adding a new face so late into the competition — even if she did come with Hannah Brown’s blessing — and sent her home.

When the rose ceremony commenced, Serena C. and Chelsea learned that they were going home, as well.

The busy week also included a group date and a pair of one-on-ones, the first of which went to Serena P., who joined Matt for a day of tantric yoga, where they engaged in a series of poses that pushed Serena a little too far out of her comfort zone.

However, Matt wasn’t offended afterwards when the 23-year-old Toronto native admitted how uncomfortable she felt.  Instead, he assured her that his feelings for her were strong and demonstrated that by offering her the date rose — saying he was looking forward to meeting her family.

A group date included Pieper, Michelle, Racheal, Bre, Kit and Abigail, meaning the final one-on-one date of the season would go to Jessenia.

Abigail — the only contestant who hadn’t had a one-on-one date with Matt — realized her worst fear when the Bachelor star confessed that, despite giving her the first impression rose, as well as a group date rose, he didn’t think their relationship had progressed as far as some of the others.

“I wish I had more time,” he told her as he escorted her out of the cocktail party and into a limo to send her home.

When the party was over, he gave Rachael the date rose, before whisking her away to treat her to a private performance by Grammy-nominated artist Aloe Blacc.

Kit, disappointed over not winning the rose after having what she believed to be a reassuring conversation with Matt at the party, paid him a visit to let him know that she didn’t have the “clarity” she needed from him going into hometowns.

Despite his assurance that he liked her “a lot” and wanted her to stick around, Kit made the difficult decision to leave the competition, explaining that it was “the right thing” for the both of them.

Jessenia later accompanied Matt on a thrilling one-on-one date, where they “pushed the limits” of their relationship with a lesson on “drifting” — a sport that involves manipulating the brake, throttle and steering in such a way to maintain control of the car while in an oversteer position — from professional driver Tony Angelo.

The date seemed to go well, until it was time to hand out the rose, which, Matt declined to offer to Jessenia, explaining that he didn’t feel “that intangible love and connection” driving them towards an engagement.

Following another rose ceremony, Pieper was also eliminated.

The four women bringing Matt home to their families are:
Bri, 24, a communications manager from San Francisco, Calif.
Michelle, 27, a teacher from Edina, Minn.
Rachael, 24, a graphic designer from Cumming, Ga.
Serena P., 23, a publicist from Toronto, Ontario, Canada

The Bachelor returns Monday night at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

Texas officials scramble to administer 5,000 COVID vaccines after power loss

No Comments National News

Houston MethodistBY: SASHA PEZENIK AND IVAN PEREIRA, ABC NEWS

(HOUSTON) — Health officials in Texas scrambled to administer over 5,000 vaccine doses before they expired after the harsh winter storm hitting the state knocked out the power of the freezers storing the vaccines.

Harris County public health officials said that their facility that stored the Moderna vaccine lost power early Monday morning and a backup generator also failed. The freezers that kept 8,430 vaccine doses at their containment temperature were among the affected equipment, they said.

“We got to work under the mission to avoid losing those vaccines with the loss of power, and we quickly put together a plan to allocate and to salvage them,” Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo said at a news conference Monday evening.

The judge said county officials put a plan a place to “expedite” allocation of those vaccines to locations where there were large groups of people, and that didn’t require too much driving, and with appropriate medical personnel on site to administer the doses.

“We were looking for places where there were already large numbers of people, or where there were, nurses, trained medical professionals who could administer the vaccines, and where we wouldn’t need folks to drive somewhere in this very dangerous weather and road conditions,” Hidalgo said.

Officials were able to distribute 5,410 doses from the affected facility to four designated centers. The Harris County Jail received 3,000 doses, Methodist Hospital received 1,000, Rice University received 810, doses and 600 doses went to LBJ Hospital and Ben Taub hospital, according to Hidalgo.

The remaining doses were saved after the health officials got some promising news from Moderna, according to the judge.

“They gave us updated guidance, specific to us, that the vaccine supply [that] we thought we were going to lose in a few hours, we could actually re-refrigerate, and administer later to our waitlist,” Hidalgo said. “So roughly half…of the vaccines have been distributed, and the rest have been put back in storage for distribution per our normal process.”

The state has been hit with power problems all weekend following a winter storm that dropped several inches of snow and brought temperatures to below freezing. Power outages in the state have impacted at least 3.6 million customers as of 5:30 p.m. ET.

Officials said that some Texas customers would not have power for the rest of the day.
